Computer Malware (Viruses)

Discuss any malware you've had. I had a trojan that disguised itself as an anti-virus program. Took forever to get out.

Desktop Defender 2011

AVG Pro 2011

Rip ViralOut 2011

Storm (I lived)

And Black Horse.

I lost Starcraft 2 by te last one. And a lot of other stuff.

But system restore = GodMode

Re: Computer Malware (Viruses)

My school's computers had a virus that would infect your flash drive whenever you plugged it in. Fortunately, my antivirus at home picked it up.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware may be your solution sir. Try it; it can remove almost anything.  big_smile

Re: Computer Malware (Viruses)

I had Win32/Heur yesterday. The AVG forums said the only way to get rid of it was to do a system restore. But I am still on my own computer.  big_smile  One time, AVG said I also had something like Crypt.XPACK.Gen.

Re: Computer Malware (Viruses)

I used to get a virus everyday. Nothing ever happened. I now have an Apple so I haven't had a virus in years.

At school my friend gave the whole class a game called Destroy the Desktop. We had fun with it. Then one day I put my USB in the computer and the virus scan found a trojan in the game.

Moral: Don't get games from other people

Re: Computer Malware (Viruses)

How is AVG Pro a virus? My family uses it all the time. It was reccomended by a computer repairman, and it takes away viruses.

You are thinking of regular AVG.

AVG, AVG Free, and AVG Internet Security are the real thing.

AVG Pro is a scam, that makes people think it is the real thing by naming it after a trusted AV.

If you really do have AVG Pro, get rid of it with MBAM (Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware), get a real AV, and never hire that repairman ever again, because he/she made you use a fake AV.

Re: Computer Malware (Viruses)

Use Dual Boot Click and Distroy. Create a dual boot machine when you think somethings not right use the other OS to manage the infected OS.
Or a virtual PC with online storage. <--- Best protection.
