There isn't really a guide to modding scratch, there a several threads that have been put up lately to help people understand Squeak/Smalltalk-80 but to start with, there was no guide.

I didn't really use a guide... Instead, I just kinda browsed through the source code. Here was my first attempt at making a block EVER.
Block specs:
('if %b then %s else %s' #r #if:then:else:)Instance:
if: t1 then: t2 else: t3
t1 ifTrue: [^ t2]
^ t3Epic fail, right?
