I really don't know...nobody has told me what the plans are for the forums. It just seemed to me if they are going to design a new web-based Scratch from the ground up, they might well chose to include a more tightly integrated forum.

Lucario, I love your idea! But I think the message should be where the post area is. It won't let you post unless you agree to the message and click OK. Sort of like this:

What do you think?
That's another good idea! Even better, if you ask me

Just in case any of you want to know, I got the idea from the forums that wikis have. I was looking through the older threads, clicked on a thread, and I saw that message, so I thought it would be helpful to have on scratch

Hey, the moderators don't like it when you talk about someone in a bad way, and give the username. Just letting you know.
Yeah and now watch this: In the future, that user will repeat the process because he doesn't know what he's doing. It's not a matter of good and bad, but a matter of understanding. He doesn't understand he's necroposting.
You're not getting my point - the moderators don't like it when you mention how someone was being bad. It's sort of like insulting them.
Actually, I went to the trouble to ask Paddle2See if I should report posts with those 'insults' or not, and he said to.
Why would you have to insult a user to let them know that they were doing something bad?

I think they'll be keeping some stuff though - Lightnin said that he'd see to it that the registration dates thing would be implemented when the website would be changed for Scratch 2.0.

Yep- more tightly integrated forums would likely solve the registration date thing too.

If I mentioned that a certain user was doing something wrong, would that be insulting them? That's your opinion. I can't see how it could be insulting, unless you assumed that I had the worst, most evil intentions towards rdococ right off the bat for some odd reason. If you asked Paddle2See about reporting posts with insults in them, of course he would agree. However, the post was not an insult. Getting to the question at the end, your post states that "Mentioning someone doing something bad" is insulting them. So in that case, the question converts to "Why would you insult a user to insult a user?" To which I reply that I didn't.

1 month is too short. Plus it's mainly just 2 users doing it, so if we could get them to stop, about 124% of the necroposting rates would go down.
More like 3756547%
I have seen those numbers somewhere...
The forum uses PunBB doesn't it? I'm not sure if it's possible. Maybe if you make the date posted bigger, it would stop it. But that might not be possible either.
PunBB is a PHP collection.
Since it is open source, the scratch team can easily edit it.
As far as showing the message is concerned, it is just a matter of an if statement that only shows the message if the topic is too old.
Personally, though, I see no problem in bumping up old threads.
I have done that on occasion, however only when it was either posted back when there were barely any users on the forums, or when I had something useful to add to the post.

It depends on how you say it, silly.
You can say it nicely and harshly.

Let's put it like this - when you mention a user and say that they did something bad, that's sort of like insulting. The moderators don't like that. That's all I was trying to get across.
And let's stop and get back to Lucario's suggestion.

I remember another forum had something like that; I think it was something like "warning: this topic was unreplied for 2 weeks, repling is called gravedigging..." But this would be more specific, so SUPPORT!

Necroposting is when there's nothing relevant left to say in the discussion and you post, that was relevant. ^^

Paddle suggested we continue this thread here (so nobody's necroposting). Anyways, I support.

Support, though the minimum should be about a month or 2.
