How many project contain the Stop Script block?
Can we live without that one?
No.

We can't live without this one either.
15% is loads!! It's just under 1/6 of the projects.
In average, 4 projects on the front page use it. Not a little amount.

Well sure, but there's a simpler, easier-to-understand way of scripting a project to do the same thing.

Simple = Better

The Forever If block is very easily mixed up with other block combinations. I don't see the point in it.

I don't see what's so bad about an unnecessary block; there are blocks out there like "next costume" that aren't necessary either.

Re: Delete the Forever If block

The problem is that [blocks]<next costume>[/blocks] is quite self explanatory while [blocks]<forever if>[/blocks] is not.

Re: Delete the Forever If block

but you don't need "next costume"

if you were to get rid of "forever if" you might as well get rid of both.

change to costume [costume #+1]

Re: Delete the Forever If block

I don't think it should be removed. I use a lot and I know how to use it.

If you don't know how to use it, you can right-click on the block, click on help from the drop down list and see its function  smile

Re: Delete the Forever If block

If you look at the "help screen" of the <if> block, you'll find out that the Scratch Team don't like to use the <forever if> block! They prefer <forever> <if>!  big_smile

EDIT: Wait. They have to use the <if> block because it's the "help screen" of the <if> block... so, never mind.  tongue

Re: Delete the Forever If block

But the forever if block's help screen isn't great.
Should it be 'The Scratch Team doesn't like to use the <forever if> block!'? Better grammar.

I have been wondering about that for a long time... should "Scratch Team" be used as a singular or plural noun?

Think of only the word, "team." It's singular.

Anyway, the "forever if" block did confuse me for a while because i didn't know what the difference between "forever if" and "forever" and "if" was. Then I realized that there wasn't one.  roll

Re: Delete the Forever If block

I disagree and agree:
Disagree:I even use it alot.It is good to use.Without it a lot of cool awesome loved projects wouldn't be loved right now with it.
Agree:It does cause problems for me too.Like if I want to play a song only for a certain time.I get confused.I use forever so it won't stop.
Disagree:90%
Agree:10%

oh, oops. I agree that you could just use a forever and an if, but many projects would fail to run without it. I think it should stay in.

Re: Delete the Forever If block

@EveryoneWhoIsSayingThatProjectsWillNotRunIfThisIsImplemented: It will just be added to the list of obsolete blocks that are red and work, but can't be newly dragged out.

Re: Delete the Forever If block

While it's true I am supporting this, my Super-Puters highly rely on it for quick script building and running.
Let's think through exactly what we would gain, and what we would lose i this was removed.

We've been discussing this issue throughout this topic, and it's been said even very recently that it would be added to the obsolete category (projects that use it aren't ruined but the block cannot be used in new projects).

I still don't agree though, as I use it still today and it's really useful to me. Saves the painful dragging out of two different blocks  big_smile

Re: Delete the Forever If block

enzo i disagree with more than 80% of those. I use forever if and if all the time. everything with change x,y or ste x,y i use. go to and if on edge bounce help with games that need to have things randomly move liek dodgeing games as well asturning helps with those games. repeat, wait until, and stop script are alway helpful. All of those might not be important to you bcause ive seen some of your games that are really good, but to other scratchers like me, we use them all the time.
