basically were just mad that stuff thats easier to do beats the stuff that is harder to do, in MOST cases not ALL cases.

Seriously, what is with these cats? I mean, I'm not trying to downsize what these artists do, they're good drawers, I can't draw nearly as well as they can, but the bad thing is how almost EVERY DAY, there's cats in all the slots in top loved and top downloaded. I'm sick of seeing furry animals everywhere, so for now, I'm just ignoring the front page, seeing as it'll probably be cats no matter what we can say or do.

I was thinking that Scratch should really have 2 different portals. One to see art, one to play games. Then, the two sides won't conflict. But would that really work?

Honestly, I'm not against cats, hamsters, anthros, etc. It's specific for me. With the undermined framework of the hamster society, I barely see activity from them anymore. They caused their own demise. For the cats... and the anthros... (and the rest...) if they don't overload the front page, I'm fine. As long as they tried their best at drawing and I only see an occasional project for them on the front page.

What fails is that I see projects that basically have no programming whatsoever. You want to see what is in these popular projects, go download them. I probably see the glide block or the change color block most of the time, and they have so few (and may I say extremely short) scripts. No, I don't want to see a toki on a pogo stick, a voice-acting with a b/w background, or a cat on a 480x360 screen in the middle of my page. If I can't play it, it's not that interesting. To make up for it, they better have some l33t-like programming and grandmaster animation skills at hand.

Really, do you want one of those things as what Scratch thinks is the best? No, I don't think so. At least for some of us... Probably there's more art freaks on Scratch than there are code freaks. COME ON. If you could compare Scratch to Flash, which you definitely cannot, then you could see how easy Scratch is to make a well-working game. If you cannot make a good game on Scratch, then you have a long way to go. Sorry, it's true.

There are so many views on the popular projects, that when I go to an awesome game, it has barely 10 views! LAME!

Okay. I'm not against cats, hamsters, and anthros.

I am against the flooding of the front page with projects that are not worthy for it.

yeah but the only thing that is on the front page is cat drawings
some of them are good but lots are bad

I join. Sure, I make animations, but I don't want them to get in the way of other great  projects. I would like more views on them, but not front page. Scratch was made for games in mind, not a picture of a cat.

you gotta look hard to find good games but the horribly ugly and pointless junk is on the homepage. why dont they switch?

I see where you come from, but going as far as to say "Go to an art site, we don't want you," is a little far. I took slight offense to this.
I did like the front page before this happened, because it was full of great games that could consume hours of one's time, but however the wind blows, you know?
What I'm saying is it runs in circles, the front page; the games will return, as will the drawings. Just be patient.

im pretty sure none of the cat drawers have any skill or patience to do pixel work, which are really the only sprites you need for games on scratch
i mean, if they werent pixel art, what would it be used for? more spam like the oyther cat art?
