Re: The Evil Banana: a side scroller made in Python/Pygame

Okay. What I will change: Pear doesn't actually meet the banana until the end of the game, but finds a lot of evidence about him (ex. writing on the walls). Pear isn't magic and he won't eat fruits, he will just make them normal again. And also, in that world, all fruits are alive.

Re: The Evil Banana: a side scroller made in Python/Pygame

Very intense. And pear never met the stb until the end anyway. He tried to chase him and catch him, but was distracted by his deputy or something like that or his guards or whatever, and big boss stb got away. At the conglomeration of sabres in level 3(?) anyway. He didn't almost meet him any other time apart from then.
Actually, a deputy's a pretty good idea. And pear has to have some stalk based attak or nothing in the story works proerly anymore.
Hey maybe it could be an electrocuting whip? Flamethrower?

How about both? Maybe pear is some special mutant fruit and so is the STB. They were exposed to high levels of radiation. Also, there should be villager fruits and stuff.

Super awesome! Keep up the good work!

I made my own soundtrack here. It's not that great.

Yup,  those ideas are all good, keep going if you think there's going to go!
I need soundcloud. I have quite a bit to put on there since I got less abstract, more synth rock that uses classical guitar and sounds like it brought the middle ages back with more modern rhythm.
That sums my music up almost completely actually.
Did I tell you about patternmusic? If you ever want a seriously good composing app, put it into the app store, it's free!

Music? Thanks. It's by far my best--my others are horrible jumbles of chords and pointless melodies.
Bog darn these Scratch glitches, my vector art died  sad
Gravitation, do you mind making a pygame platformer base?

Cool. I realized something: everyone here composes. We could all write one track for the game. I am learning how to make my own instruments in garageband, which is helpful.
We should try to get something done.

Re: The Evil Banana: a side scroller made in Python/Pygame

GarageBand. I've heard if it. At the moment I'm looking for free old versions of fl studio, and I think i've found one, but if it doesn't go well, how much is GarageBand?
I must be the lowest budget composer in the world. I use my phone to record myself on instruments that were given to me and were lying around and I pull it all together on audacity, but I'm looking for somethig better. Know anything free with a built in synthesizer that allows importing of sound from other places? Basically a free version of fl studio or a free equvilant.  smile  or at least fl studios the only one I've heard of.
I'm straying from topic and going on a bit aren't I. Please ignore me unless anythig ive said was interesting.

And that song is just as intense!  big_smile  Nice job, sounds very video game-y, and I never really could see DnB as video game music until now. Picturing an awesome intro with Pear posing to this song, right now.

It has a pretty nice guitar segment in the background. I play electric guitar and bass, do tell me if you ever need me to jam to your tracks.  wink

I haven't progressed at all in the XML map handling; it's getting quite complicated and as I've said, I've spent my time mostly in school and producing my band's music.  hmm  We really should be tackling the platformer engine first, with a hard coded map (in a Python list) and then implement map importing.

Linux MultiMedia Studio (which is also fully compatible with Windows btw). Takes a bit of technical knowledge to use right, though (a bit less user friendly than, say, FL Studio).

It comes with Mac (and iPad, I think).

Lol! Actually, I haven't spent a cent on my composing.

You could use AudioSauna. My friend showed it to me, but I never used it.

Yeah, it loops really well too  smile

The map thing is fine, no one else is doing anything, really. Neither am I, and I'm really busy too.

I totally agree with you.

Okay, sure, no prob. I might need some help with sensing though.

Great  big_smile
I know how to sense Rect objects in theory with get width and get height, but I haven't tried it yet  yikes
I have no idea how to sense colors and use "Scratch sensing" where it counts as touching alpha transparency as not touching.

I tried this and didn't see anything that we wanted...

I just got a good idea! We could make a class called scratchscripts or something, and it would have built in functions like ghost effect, colorR, G, and B effect, rotation, etc. that all the actor inherited.

I'll be sure to write something if I do come up with something.

We might end up with a concept album instead of a game. xP
