If only the American school system would get out of these ridiculous hundred-year-old habits and come up with something innovative. Our schools have become stale and dismal places where young minds are molded into dull squarish boxes, amidst a nightmarish tangle of dull pencils, grimy and dog-eared textbooks and droning lectures.'

Only slightly  tongue . It may be education, but it's still trying to crush any excess intelligence and all personality out of us until were boring ol' squares.

All I know is I don't want to find out. Although I could bring in a compilation of evidence against it based on these forum posts...

Re: Habits: are they a recipe for disaster?

As far as I'm concerned, the moment you do something exactly the same you you did it a zillion times before, you need to get psychological help before you realize how boring your life is. So I agree with zubblewu.

Re: Habits: are they a recipe for disaster?

Yes.
I was born with horrible lung problems and my first  week was spent wheezing in the ICU. When I was young (5 or 6), I developed a horrible habit: holding my breath near trash cans. It's the hardest habit I've ever tried to break, and it makes my lung problems worse.

Another one: I love salt. My salt needs more salt. It's become a habit to get more salt. My family has a long history of heart problems. Sometimes I feel heart pains and I'm currently working with a doctor.

Re: Habits: are they a recipe for disaster?

Liking salt isn't really a habit...

Anyway you should write about how this is a terrible prompt because only BAD habits would maybe lead to disaster and in that case, it's kind of a given (since, you know, they're called bad for a reason). If they said they meant all habits then obviously the answer would be "it depends" because it's not like showering regularly or eating healthily will lead to disaster.

I bathe regularly. I'm scared one day I'll prune up so badly I'll dissolve into a pile of wrinkly flesh!

Constantly asking for more is, even though I know I have enough.
