Can I do a transparency fillbucket?

There's a Fuzzy Selection tool you can use, you can't use the fill bucket to fill with transparency. I actually thought I could, when I was a noob to GIMP. (Not saying I'm not a noob at it right now, i'm just less of a noob than I was before. )
Click where you want to fill with transparency, and press the backspace key.

There's no transparency fillbucket, but I know there's a way to make some colors transparent. This tutorial shows you how, but it's for an old version of GIMP and I have no idea if it's still useful now if you're using the newer GIMP interface..

Wait, it's simple! Choose the fill tool, and change the opacity to the percentage you want. 100% is compoetely opaque, 0% is completely transparent. Now make sure the setting is on fill similar colours andnclick the area to fill.
If it's hard to fill the right area, use one of the select tools, then use the fill tool with fill whole selection.
