Yes, I know these are just tidbits of a story, but eh, what'cha gonna do?

Story One (Note: This is actually based on an RPG on the Runescape forums I did about 5 years ago):

‘Another freak fire has just been calmed by firefighters.  What is causing these now-common disasters?  Police are trying to get to the bottom of it.  It is not believed to be sabotage.  This is Karen Fitch, from Miami, signing off.’  Nick clicked the TV remote and watched as the screen quickly darkened and turned off.  He knew exactly what was causing these disasters.  That’s because he had a book.  A book of earth.
He had been exploring in the house of his grandfather, who had recently passed away, when he saw a book.  This book on the cover simply said ‘Book’ on the cover, and the same on the side.  It was dark-brown, with a big gold latch on the side.  Looking at the latch, Nick saw that luckily, there was a key in the latch.  And so, being curious, he took the book and went outside.

Story Two (I know it's not finished, but I got bored with it):

13 Billion, 721 Million, 231 Thousand, 759.16 ABB. We have appeared in a desolate part of the Fornax Cluster because the ship has reached a time fluctuation.  We are losing control.  Activating emergency backup system.  Heading for nearest planet. 

13 Billion, 721 Million, 231 Thousand, 759.165 ABB. This may be the last time I communicate with you.  We have lost control of the ship.  We are leaving in the escape pods.  The local planet is called ‘Earth’ by the inhabitants.  They appear to be semi-intelligent.
