Laaaaaaaag!

Hey guys! I just wanted to say that I get serious lag when I type in numbers or letters in a variable bit. It's really bugging me, but the lag goes away when I do something else like make a new sprite or scroll the scrolly think etc. Does anyone else get that?

Re: Laaaaaaaag!

Well, if you have a huge script where the variable is then you get a lag. There is no way to fix it.

Re: Laaaaaaaag!

Yeah, the scrip is massive. I can't find any other way to do it. In the new scratch there should be a block for 'costume name', not just number.

Re: Laaaaaaaag!

If your script is really big and you find it difficult to type in numbers/text, try separating the script into multiple piece, then add the block(s), and then put the scripts back together when you want to test it.  smile

Re: Laaaaaaaag!

Type the stuff in the variable thing, then add it to the script. You could also scroll to a part of the screen where there aren't any scripts showing.

Re: Laaaaaaaag!

Yeah when scripts get big, scratch slows downs a lot. If they fixed that, probably a lot more people would use the program

There are ways around it. You can split the script apart and then use broadcasts to link the pieces. I do that when I make 1s1s games.

Hey then isn't that exactly what the new creating blocks thing in Scratch 2.0 is?

Fixed it. Forgot a zero.
