What is ForceFitting?

ForceFitting is where youtook a topic that didn't fit into the forum you put it in and made up a reason for why it should go in there. Some common reasons are "I'm reading this post." or "I created this topic.". An example force fitting would be to say your favorite store and say "I'm making past-times".

Why can't we force fit?
The same reason the Miscellaneous topic got closed.
A.) It's hard to moderate
B.) It's really easy to get into arguments
C.) It gets really cluttered.

What happens to force-fitted topics?
They get closed and the authors are told that they force-fitted and/or how they force-fitted to help prevent them from force-fitting again.

What if we want to talk about a subject that doesn't fit into either forum?
Then, you can create a project and/or gallery where you can discuss the topic in comments. But you still have to make sure that it fits the Community Guidelines.

Re: What is ForceFitting?

Shouldn't this go into questions about Scratch? Reporting to be moved...

How would you force fit a topic into Help with Scripts? Or into Advanced Topics?
If it doesn't belong there it's usually moved to Questions about Scratch.

Also, it generally happens in MaC and RaP. I have never seen it happen anywhere else.

Well, that may happen to this thread too, if the mods agree with my report.

^ Pretty much this. Force-fitting occurs when someone tries to force a topic to fit into a particular forum section. It can go beyond the MaC and RaP forum; for example, I've seen some topics being forced into Show and Tell or New Scratchers, and some non-Scratch bugs being put into the Bugs and Glitches forum.

the term force fit is used throughout the internet, not just on these forums

and it would be fairly easy to attempt to force fit a topic in new scratchers or show and tell

it would be fairly easy, but it hasn't happened in the 3 months 17 days I've been on these forums

You've read every single thread in every single forum here since the day you joined?

That would mean the mods are doing their job in cleaning everything up quickly and Scratchers are doing their civic duty by reporting miscats/forcefit topics when it's spotted.  cool

Re: What is ForceFitting?

Cool. Example:

Bugs and Glitches

Pixel 2!

This post is about a bug. Pixel 2 is a sequel to Pixel, where you are a pixel and you need to avoid more lava and bad pixels.

The force-fitting part is in red.
