Scratch Remix Revolution Week is a virtual event made to encourage remixing, but in a cool way. Many Scratchers don't download and remix others' projects because they believe it looks bad or unprofessional. The fact is, everything is a remix. In fact, this post is a remix of several hundred ideas. Remix Revolution Week was started to spread the word that remixing is okay, you just have to know what's okay and what's not.
How do I participate?
On Scratch Remix Revolution Week 2012, we encourage everyone to remix at least one project to show that Remixing can be cool and fun. However, remix the correct way, as shown below.
How do I remix "correctly"?
Remixing is simply taking an idea and changing it a bit in your own way. On Scratch, you remix projects by downloading a project, changing it, and then uploading it to the Scratch website. However, it's important to give the creator of the project you remixed credit for making the project, and any other direct credits to ideas/things you remixed. This doesn't mean you have to credit your alarm clock for waking you up that day to remix the project, it means you have to credit direct things like sprites and/or sounds you used. It's also customary to leave the "Based on....'s project" on your project's page. Attempting to get around that is not cool or appropriate. There's also a clear difference between copying work, and remixing it. If you're going to remix a project, change it so that it becomes yours, don't just to steal others' fame.
When is Scratch Remix Revolution Week?
Scratch Remix Revolution Week 2012 starts on Monday, June 18th and goes until Sunday, June 24th. It's for everyone everywhere in all time zones.
Add your remixes to this gallery for others to check out and remix again!

Cool Idea, stevetheipad.
I'll be sure to remix.
Thanks!
You can remix any project and you can remix it anyway you want, just make sure to add it to the gallery for others to see.

I'm fine with people remixing mine, but it doesn't really appeal to me. To me, it just makes it so I can't be as pleased with it, as it's not all my work. It's a good idea and stuff, but I won't participate.

Well, hardly anything we do is original. It's fun to improve an idea/project in to your own thing.

It's not that it won't be original, it's just that I'd prefer to do everything myself so that I can be more pleased with it.
Oh, and can you explain how that post is a "remix of hundreds of different things" please? I'm confused over that part.

Saying everything is a remix is a bit narcissistic, don't you think?

Well, since taking an idea and changing it counts as a remix, your words and opinions are renixes, which you display in posts.

I'm not watching a 40 minute video series just to hear your side of this.

Perhaps you could summarize it.

Everything is a remix, ideas are consumed, rethought, edited and then regurgitated. Our current patent system does not support remixing and needs fixing.
Really quick summary, you should actually watch the video sometime.

So, what you're saying is it's absolutely impossible to make something original? I disagree.

I think pretty much everything you do is based off of something you learned/saw/experienced. Then when you change it a bit, it becomes yours, but still a remix.

So... Your DNA is a remix? I agree with Redrocker227.
Haha, I didn't mean it like that. Obviously air isn't a remix.
I meant like ideas are remixes.

So... When the airplane was invented, what was that a remix of? How about the telephone?
Debating is fun. ^^'

The idea didn't pop out of no-wehere, did it?
And yes, debating can be fun, but in a healthy dose.

So where did it pop out of?
I'd say this is a "healthy dose".

I was asking you if you honestly thought the idea of the airplane just popped out of their heads?
And yes, this is a healthy dose, but we have a few too many arguments.
