My scratch account will be hacked!

An error message says that the following passwords have been received by a hacker on the following websites: scratch.mit.edu . Then I get a message from the hacker:  Changing a pass word won't help! Have fun with your 100 viruses!

Re: My scratch account will be hacked!

This topic doesn't really fit in this forum. Perhaps you should email the Scratch Team (email: help.scratch.mit.edu) about your problem. I will let a mod take over from here.

Re: My scratch account will be hacked!

In that case, what you should do is install MalwareBytes, reboot in safe mode, and run it in full mode.

On another computer, change ALL of your passwords.

My computer won't let me connect and install! Only my iPod will!

Oh, that's really bad. In that case, download the installer on another computer and put it on a USB stick, reboot into safe mode, and install there.

If that doesn't work, just back up all of your documents on an external drive and reformat (the manufacturer gave you copies of the OS, right?).

Edit: this is my 950th post!

Could you give us the username of who sent you messages?
Also, jvvg, if only they would have taken your HTTPS suggestion sooner  tongue

Yeah, however, this may have been a keylogger, phishing, or that kind of attack. In that case, HTTPS wouldn't have helped.

Edit: HTTPS actually would help against phishing...I take that back.  tongue

Re: My scratch account will be hacked!

Copy EVERYTHING you have onto an external hard drive, then Restore your computer (as in completely erase everything on the computer). Then copy everything from the External Hard drive back onto your computer.
Or, maybe, if your dad is a computer person, ask him to try to hack the hacker.

Re: My scratch account will be hacked!

I don't think this is the best way to be getting help from a possible hacker attack; it would be better to send an e-mail to the Scratch Team instead by using the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every Scratch webpage.

That being said, I don't think someone from MIT would go through great lengths to hack someone using their website, especially a kid; it's likely someone outside of Scratch and MIT. It would be a good idea to tell your parents about what's going on.
