I thought it was great, however the rest of my family disagreed (Besides my mom).
I loved the twist at the end. I wasn't expecting that.
And the references were great, too. I love how the creators showed what it's like inside of a video game. For example, the first person shooter, the video game train station...that was really great.

I watched the trailers, sadly its not running anymore in the local cinema. I some how did not approve of the lack of Mario (Although Bowser made a cameo). But the director said he would appear in the sequel

How come all anyone is talking about is the references?
I appreciated the movie because of its inventive storyline and main characters.
The references were funny, but they weren't the whole movie.
And also I hateD how Sonic fans were all "SQUEEEE SONICS IN THE MOVIE NOWAI". -.-
EDIT: not trying to seem hypocritical here, but I seem to be the only one that got the exclamation mark reference at the back room at Tappers.
