Just as a side note, 2D lists are possible already (just really clumsy).

You mean like an array?
If so, some blocks:

add [thing] to [array v] at column (1) row (1)
replace item column (1) row (1) with [thing] in [array v]
delete column (1 v)
delete row (1 v)
<item column (1) row (1)>//a reporter, but it shows up as a variable, so I used the boolean instead.
area of [array]
new column
new row
