here
have a thread for stories when you need a good cry.
here's a quick one I wrote for my character Carmel:
Carmel’s face and snout were coated with blood, scorch marks, and tears. She held close to her heart Alex’s dead body. He’d been stabbed through the chest with a large sword known as a Dauthaert. His eyes were closed, and a faint smile was on his lips.
“No….” Carmel was sniffling.
“It’s okay.” Alex weakly lifted his hand to her snout.
“It’s not okay. You’re dying.”
“Carmel - famiglia means family. And family means nobody gets left behind.”
He closed his eyes and drew his last breath.
“NO!” Tears streamed down her face. Carmel felt Alex’s mental presence fade away, leaving her broken and hopeless.
“Why? Why you?” She softly nuzzled what she once knew as her best friend. He used to be energetic and patient. What was a friend now seemed to be a limp body in her arms.
Carmel later laid her only friend to rest in a graveyard created specially for fallen warriors. “I’m sorry.” Tears streamed down her snout again. A single blue flower was planted at his grave. “I knew you always loved flowers. So here’s one. Just for you.”
She took a final look at the tombstone that marked the eternal sleeping place or her best friend and guide. “Sleep well, little one. May the stars guide you on your journey to Paradise.”
Carmel took off softly. When she’d landed much later, at nighttime she looked up at the stars. “I hope you made it there safe. I’ll miss you.”

Might check this thread from time to time. I tihnk sad stories have more of an effect on having nightmares than scary stories in my opinion.
Is there a term for where the STORY is incredibly sad, but the ending is happy compared to the rest? Or is that a normal sad story?

I'm not sure.
There should be a term for it though.

Probably called, "Forgiving ending," where the story is sorry for all it put you through, and to make it up, gives you a--more or less--- happy ending.
