What is your favorite Ray Bradbury book or short story?

Ray Bradbury passed away last night.  And, it got me thinking...

Ray Bradbury is probably the greatest writer I've ever read. His books read more like poetry than prose. If you haven't read The Illustrated Man you should.  This collection of sci-fi short stories are very accessible—they are more about people and situations than technobabble. My two favorite stories are No Particular Night or Morning and Kaleidoscope. I also like his books Fahrenheit 451 and The Martian Chronicles.

Ray Bradbury made clear to everyone that science fiction can be art.

What is your favorite Ray Bradbury book or short story?

I've only ever read Fahrenheit 451, but I'll be sure to check out the others you mentioned; I quite enjoyed the aforementioned book and I agree that his writing is very poetic. I was really sad to hear he passed away, too.  sad

Wow. So many famous people have died recently. ;___;

I haven't been able to find any of his books at my local library because they seem to be checked out every time I go. Oh well.  sad

Yes, I heard about that...he was one of my favorite authors. I'd been going to post this topic, but I was busy all day; thanks for posting it.
It's funny, because I was reading Fahrenheit 451 again yesterday.
Wasn't he 91?

Well, that's sad - he was a fantastic writer.  I can remember reading The Illustrated Man as a teenager - it was creepy, scary and thought provoking - I reread it many times over the years.  I wonder if I still have my tattered old copy somewhere?

He was a great author.

I've read Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and Illustrated Man. Kaleidoscope was definitely his most striking (and terrifying) short story for me. I read it about 5 years ago and still remember it quite vividly.

Fahrenheit 451 is great. I've read it three times. Each time was for school though  tongue

The only one I read was The Veldt. And that was only because I heard the song based on it - both of which (the book and the song) are very good!

I liked The Martian Chronicles, especially the sections The House Of Usher and the one about the Second Expedition.

Re: What is your favorite Ray Bradbury book or short story?

I only ever read a Spanish translation of "Fahrenheit 451" for school. Even being a translated version, you could notice that he had a particularly inmersing, poetic writing style. I heard about his death too, sad to know.
