Because people have opinions. And some people can't respect them and go around, arguing which OS is better until the sun collapses...

There are many misconceptions about Macs which I must correct

If you people think that Mac users are the biggest haters you should see any Mac video on YouTube. They are full of people who troll Mac users too.

I've seen this funny video, but it swears, ranting about a mac

To some, computers aren't merely an object.

@your comment: Before the unibody macbook pro, there were no laptops with design like that and before the air, there were no wedge design laptops. I think it's fair to say that Apple hold the rights to prevent other companies from stealing their designs.

Yeah but Apple sues EVERYTHING for patent infringement.

Have you heard about that new MacBook? It's got a clamshell design. Clearly a ripoff of the GRiD Compass. How lame is it that Apple can't create a completely original design for their computers.

It doesn't seem right though, that these other companies can profit from taking ideas that have been developed with lots of effort and hard work and modifying them very slightly to sell them.

How can you say that Apple copied that? That isn't metal, it's not wedge shaped and it certainly doesn't have a keyboard like the Apple one.
Though the Macintosh portable does look slightly like it, but I don't see how it contributes to the current discussion. Most laptops looked the same back then.

As a matter of fact it is made of metal, Magnesium. Your argument is that because Apple's devices made "original" changes they can accuse anything with a different design a copy, if not sue the company. If that is valid, why are we not all using GRiD computers instead of whatever branded notebooks we use today? Based on your support of Apple's actions in patenting and suing over similar designs, there should be no notebooks with clamshell designs other than ones made by GRiD because all of them bear resemblance to the Compass.
Also as I might add there were wedge shaped laptops before the MacBook Air, so their patent for the wedge shaped design should never have been valid in the first place.

So you think a different company just goes one day "OKAY THEY RELEASED THIS AND SINCE WE HAVE THE EXACT CODE TO MAKE IT LET'S JUST CHANGE ONE THING AND SELL IT!"?
They have to code their own version and improve on the idea while doing it. Apple is pursuing a monopoly.

I didn't know it was made of magnesium sorry, but it's not a unibody design. Also, the wedge design of the Sony is not the same as the air, notice the hinge, and the way that it is not tapered as much. Neither does it have a thin edge.
@soup: now I wonder why other companies don't innovate as much?

I don't really care about Mac vs PC
but what I do care about is Apple vs Windows
slight difference
Steve Jobs was not a philanthropist
he donated
very little to no money to charity
whereas Bill Gates
donated very much money to charitable concerns
:>
and the ipods
i dont understand them
but that's just me

I think you mean Apple vs Microsoft, or OSX vs Windows.
iPods are awesome, definitely better than Zunes, and Steve was never as rich as Bill Gates.

Except for Apple's $100,000,000,000 (one hundred billion) surplus of money...
I might say that for things such as the mp3 player or the computer mouse, Apple was not the first to design them, but they were ther first to have commercial success with them.
Also, if you want to see real ripoffs, check out the ones all around in poorer countries for the people who just want people to think they have an iPhone, or MacBook, or whatever.
