Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

If I have a saying in this (considering I don't plan on staying in this band for a long time) I'd also vote for DIY's version of trinary's logo. The extended T is just so symbolic, I'd tell that logo is reminiscent of the Beatles even not being a fan of them (which I'm not).  tongue

So, yeah, I vote for DIY's version of trinary's logo. What do you think, Techno?

Yay, thanks my loyal friend  smile

I have opened accounts on media sites, so once our music's complete, they'll be ready to be posted on the respecive sites.

That's great!  big_smile

Thanks (loyal band mate, lol)!  lol

Yeah, it is just so reminiscent of their logo.

It seems we're probably going to be going with DIY's logo.  big_smile

But, first, maybe we should hear Necro's decision (who I still haven't gotten a reply from, unfortunately).

Yeah!  tongue

Yeah, it is very disappointing that he seems to have ignored our posts. It is not too much to ask of him to re-upload Here Comes the Sun at least, seeing that he has already familiarised himself with the song.

Any other ideas on how we can contact him or get across the message?

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

I'm finally getting familiar with the song's bassline. Paul played lots of fills - I probably won't get all of them in my track, since every musician has it's own style in the first place, but I'll still try to throw some of the most noticeable fills here and there, and try not to add fills of my own as to keep it as similar to the original track as possible. Definitely recording tomorrow.

@DIY - I don't know. I think we've done everything we can, but I'll try to think up some other ways of contacting him tonight.

@techno - Excellent! Looking forward to hearing your output!

Yeah, if you can think of any other way, that'll give us some hope. I've tried on the forums and the main site. Maybe if a different person like you keeps trying, he won't see it as possibly 'nagging'?

@ techno: I do understand being a bassist myself that people tend to have different styles. I've noticed the contrast between your's and my style in our Frozen Coco songs. So long as you are faithful to the original and don't deviate too much from the original, it's fine.

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

My bass track for "Here Comes The Sun" is done! Here it is, and here is a ending thing I came up with, basically some bass harmonics while I play with the volume knob. It sounds good at a low volume with the guitar arpeggios when the song ends (right when I play the last note in the bass track). Not sure if I explained that well, but feel free to experiment with it when mixing nevertheless.

These bass harmonics are the only thing of my own, the bass track is meant to be reminiscent of McCartney's original track though not exactly the same; I used a bassier tone than usual as well to get a little closer to his signature tone. I think a big part of Paul McCartney's tone comes from his short-scale bass, they give a very particular sound that is really hard, if not impossible, to recreate with a standard scale bass, which I play.

But obviously, neither I or anyone can expect to play and sound exactly like any other bassist - this track should do it's job fine.  smile

Thank you both for your compliments, can't wait to hear the finished version of the cover. I don't even like the Beatles and the song is already stuck in my head from listening so much to it  tongue

I know right? I made some Beatles music videos on Scratch, and I must have listened to those songs at least a hundred times while making it...  tongue

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

DIY is currently on vacation, he'll start mixing Here Comes the Sun when he comes back. He counted on me to tell you guys.  smile

We only need someone to sing the song, and Necromaster to post his drum tracks again, am I right?

That's right! Vocals are done by one of the band members, not by a separate lead vocalist, so we just need to decide who should sing the song (we haven't figured out yet who should sing George's songs). I'm starting to have my doubts, however, if Necro will reply at all to my comment. In fact, it seems he's been inactive around the entire site recently. Let's hope we didn't have anything to do with it.  tongue

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

Thanks techno for telling everyone here about my short trip to the countryside as I said.  smile

I am glad to hear the bass track done and it is a pretty good attempt at McCartney's original track. I like the fact that it sounds much cleaner on your bass. If only we had Necro's drum track...

Anyway, I'll try getting to mixing this weekend now that I'm back. Had a fantastic time up country, making possible compostitions for FC on my acoustic!  wink

I'll have another go at contacting Necro, although you are right All4one; he has not had any activity on the site in the past few days. I'd suggest you keep trying too. Hopefully he'll be pressured to upload the drums for Here Comes the Sun at least. Then we can release it as our first single.

Thanks for the svg, trinary. I suppose that's our logo, so I will upload it as our avatar on the media sites on which I have created accounts for The Walruses.

Yeah, I think we have a winner regarding our band logo.  big_smile  I'll put it in my sig right now.

Meanwhile, I'll try one more time to contact Necro, and if he doesn't reply within a week, I think we may have to remove him from our roster.  sad  Let's hope he'll reply, and let's also hope that we can weasel the drum track from him.

Yeah, sounds good about the drum tracks.

I'll insert my sig later since I'm going to use my current one gor a while.

I know, it does look kinda plain. So long as you don't do anything to the text of it (I suppose you could change the background of it with maybe a pschedelic image) it should ba fine. It should resemble our logo closely, yet it is fine if you stay faithful to the original text.
