Awesome. Do you think we might as well finish the whole Abbey Road album? If not, I think we should do some in the Beatles for Sale album.

Completing the whole Abbey Road album is a realistic target since work is moving at a fairly quick pace. It also contains some of their finest work ever produced.

I myself tend to like the most widely acclaimed Beatles albums. We can consider doing Beatles for Sale (it has nice early songs like 'No Reply', 'Eight Days A Week', 'I'll Follow the Sun' and 'What You're Doing') maybe after we complete the medley, because as of now, All4one I believe said the idea of going ahead with the entire Abbey Road album was good.

I think so too. Since we've got started, we might as well release the full thing.

And yes, I agree, Beatles for Sale album has a lot of their best songs. Eventually, we'll also have to do some songs from the Magical Mystery Tour since we are named The Walruses  tongue

Yeah, 'I Am the Walrus' can be our anthem...  tongue

But songs like that are going to be really tough because of all the external effects overdubbed into it. Following The Fab Faux's work ethic may be good for that kind of stuff.

That is why I suggested to All4one that we do an acoustic version of 'Strawberry Fields Forever' later on, as that would sound beautiful as well as easier to do.

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

Since both of the songs we're working on at the moment ("Here Comes the Sun" and the Abbey Road Medley) are off Abbey Road, I think we should probably just complete the entire album. We could release Side 1 and 2 on separate projects.

And then, maybe, if the process resulted in being a good one, we could try completing other full albums - like Beatles for Sale, as jji mentioned (ironic that I was just now playing the entire Side 1 to that album on my keyboard). I think it's one of their best early albums, and was a huge stepping stone for the band. Most of the songs are pretty basic and would be altogether easy to record, so that might be the one we'll do after Abbey Road, if we're planning on completing another full Beatles album.

Also, DIY, you forgot one of the best tracks off Beatles for Sale - "Every Little Thing". That tune is one of my all-time favorite Beatles tunes.  big_smile

Of course, how could I forget when naming that few...  tongue

Moving on to Beatles For Sale after the entire Abbey Road album is complete will be good because it's rather short (a little over 30 minutes) and there certainly aren't any complex musical arrangements or overdubs. We should also maybe focus on singles from different eras after the completion of Abbey Road, so that we capture the scope of different styles they followed as their music progressed through the ages.

When you say we should focus on singles from their different eras, do you mean our singles or the Beatles' singles?

Also, I believe that "I'll Follow the Sun" will work perfectly well with jji's acoustic.

I don't exactly get your query, but I mean we should, after the Abbey Road album is completed, not just focus on doing more complete albums, but do selective singles from their different eras, e.g. Pepper ear, Get Back era, etc.

And also, speaking of acoustic songs, I think 'I've Just Seen a Face' from the 'Help!' album is a good rocker we can cover (I'm good at the intro).  smile

Along with Beatles for Sale, I think if we were to record an early Beatles LP, With the Beatles would be another fantastic choice. It showcases the band growing as musicians and songwriters, and even the covers still soumd fresh. It would be great to see songs such as "All My Loving", "Not a Second Time", and "It Won't Be Long" get done.  big_smile

With the Beatles isn't a bad choice. So a good agenda to follow is:

- Complete entire Abbey Road Medley
- Release a couple of singles (from different eras)
- Cover the entire With the Beatles LP (Not certain)

What d'ya say we follow this method as a rough guideline, All4one? It often helps, as it has done to me with my Frozen Coco work. Of course, it will be subject to change, and seeing that we haven't released anything yet, it's a bit too early to decide for certain. I also would like to see work from the Help! album (such as 'I've Just Seen A Face' like I stated before), The Beatles (The White Album) and Revolver (remember, it's considered second to Pepper). We did discuss the difficulty in going in for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour and the such, but songs like 'Strawberry Fields Forever' on acoustic 'Lovely Rita' (instrumentation isn't too hard) are realistic.

'All My Loving' is indeed good. Paul likes it very much himself and it's one of his own songs that he enjoys performing. He even performed it at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Oh, and I checked out the Scratch Awards forum topic. Turns out the scores were two all! Not as impressive as I was hoping for.  lol

Lucky one for us though, otherwise if more people had voted, Frozen Coco would have been the outright winner. Of course, I wouldn't mind either way!  tongue

We aren't thinking about album covers at the moment and as jji said, we don't need one.

Yea, a few songs from the Help! album I really like, including

- You've Got to Hide your Love Away

- The Night Before

- Another Girl

- You're Going to Lose that Girl

We should also record Yesterday. Say, I play the guitar (since I already know it) and you sing it? We could record that as our first single, since the drums might take a while  smile

Nah, I never really liked the song. In my opinion, the melody gets repetitive and it's not too listenable unlike other Beatles songs, as people have often remarked. Plus it's not a convincing first single, in my opinion.

If things are getting very delayed though, I wouldn't mind. But I'm expecting drum tracks from wolvesstar97 for Here Comes the Sun this weekend.

If he doesn't upload, you go ahead and record the guitar for Yesterday and I'll do vocals on it. Good suggestion by you.  smile

That's a brilliant suggestion, jji.  yikes  I can't believe I didn't think about doing a track without drums. The orchestral part could also probably be easily mimicked on the keyboard.

Then again, we have wolvesstar97 working on the "Here Comes the Sun" drum track, and if the audition proves satisfactory, then we'll have the entire song complete to release as a single.  big_smile

I don't mind if we have to do "Yesterday" as our first single, though. Even if it isn't exactly a show-stopping debut single, neither was the Beatles' "Love Me Do".  smile

EDIT - Also, I approve of your agenda, DIY, and the concept of doing agendas.

LOL, yeah.  tongue

The recording was playing in the background in this particular concert. I remember watching a good bit of the concert a while back. This is the concert John said, 'Thank you Ringo', am I right (sorry, I didn't play the entire project; my Flash Player crashed and I am in the process of downloading it now)?

I should easily be able to imitate the orchestral sounds on keyboard, no worries!  smile

EDIT: Just realised there is a quartet in that one  tongue

LOL, yeah.  tongue

The recording was playing in the background in this particular concert. I remember watching a good bit of the concert a while back. This is the concert John said, 'Thank you Ringo', am I right (sorry, I didn't play the entire project; my Flash Player crashed and I am in the process of downloading it now)?

I should easily be able to imitate the orchestral sounds on keyboard, no worries!  smile

Yea, awesome. Sounds good. I don't think that's the one  tongue

Oh, well, on my sloppy Java player, I managed to just view the first few frames of it.  tongue

Keep working on that Yesterday guitar track.  smile

Re: The Walruses - A Beatles Tribute Band on Scratch

Yea, I'll record it this weekend (tomorrow) along with possibly some vocals for the medley.

Good, if the drum tracks are uploaded too, then this will be an important weekend for The Walruses!  smile
