According to the Mario Wiki, New Super Mario Bros Mii was cancelled. It's too bad; it would have been cool to see a playable Mii in a Mario sidescroller.
I would like to see a new Mario game based on Super Mario Bros 2 someday.
So, I'm going to guess that Mario can fly when he has the Super Leaf in this game as opposed to Super Mario 3D Land.

Exactly.
Even though SMB2 was just a remake of "Doki Doki Panic", it was still a great game that deserves to be redone in 3D.

I don't like the lack of originality here.

Some called the previous NSMB games unoriginal, but I disagree. The first was a return to Mario's 2D roots, which was welcome. Wii added co-op. Even U, which I thought was a bit contrived at least had the Miiverse functionality. But NSMB2 just feels unoriginal. It still looks fun, but they can do better.

I also don't like that Nintendo is doing TWO NSMB games at a time. I think they should work on a new 3D Mario game. Yes, NSMB games were fun (in fact the first has lots of nostalgia for me considering it was my first Mario game), but were they near as amazing as Super Mario Galaxy?

Yeah; I really thought they would make a Super Mario Galaxy 3. I think it's the only mini-series they have with just 2 games in it.
And I would hope that someday I'll get to see a 3D version of Subcon (the place Mario went to in SMB2).

NSMB2 is going to be even easier than ever, with all those coins everywhere. 1-UPs will be a cinch, and Game Overs will actually be tough to get, assuming you're not going to lose lives on purpose.

I actually saw a review that said NSMB2 was harder than the first two.

I don't think they're going to make a SMG3. I think that they're going to do something entirely new. I just hope they aren't abandoning 3D Mario. Not that I don't like 2D Mario (Super Mario World's actually my favorite game in the entire series), but 3D Mario has much more room for innovation.
