Who has that kindle fire? I'm getting it next month and I was wondering what you guys think about it. I'll mostly be using it for books and music. I don't like touch-screen games so yea
I've also been thinking about installing cyanogenmod for Kindle. Has anyone tried this? If so, how is it? Good for everyday use?

If you want an reader, get a Pandigital Novel.

The screen seems better on the fire.

It's been out way longer; and is much cheaper.
Thanks for that! I'll certainly look into that!

Looks like the Kobo vox doesn't have any good features, and costs the same as the Fire where I am.
The processor is also only 800mhz compared to the 1ghz of the fire.

Pretty much every digital portable device comes pre-installed with an eReader now so don't restrict to things marketed as one.

They look pretty sweet, I want one.

That's like saying you don't need a dedicated camera because most digital portable devices come with a camera, which is true, but then again, isn't

Meh, I mainly got my Kobo Touch cause it was cheaper and came out sooner.

Yes, the Kindle Fire is $300 less than the iPad, but the iPad is so much better quality and has so many more capabilities, that it's well worth the extra cost.

I used to have a Kindle Fire. But, then I sold it.
I liked it for Scratch projects even though there was some issues.
Sometimes you can not get the keyboard to show even when an ask block was active.
I bought an Intel Ultrabook instead and am much happier.

I also used to have a Kindle Fire, before I took an arrow to the knee.

Well, I agree, but the Kindle fire is the mini iPad. Like the ones for families that can't afford the iPad.

That's not really true; the Kindle Fire is a fail attempt at a reading and playing on the same device. It'll be revolutionary when you can switch between a print screen and an HD color display.

I'll be mostly reading so I don't really need an iPad. I have my iMac for creative stuff.
I don't want to be doing everything on a tablet

If you are buying a Kindle Fire as an eReader, don't bother. You should buy a Kindle Touch instead.
My daughter has one and it is REALLY nice for reading books.
Of course, it is only black and white, but you don't really need color if you're just reading books. Plus, the battery in it lasts for ever (several weeks) on a single charge and it is very easy on the eyes. I've read with it for 4+ hours at a time and my eyes didn't get tired. Compare that to the Fire and I was only able to read for about an hour before I had to stop.

Just because there is an i in front of it doesn't make it better than all others.
