I'm pretty sure we don't want parts of Scratch 2.0 made public until it's ready for release. But I did send an email out to some other team members to see what they thought of the idea. No response yet...

Oh ok. We won't get changes you decide to add, and it's only alpha.

Go here, then find some genius way, such as bookmarks, to link to javascript:document.body.childNodes[0].ASsetEditMode(true); from that page.

We talked it over and decided that we do want to keep the alpha editor / website private. So please don't use it or share it with others, or try to find ways to access it in the future.

However, we are planning on doing another limited release during which we'll open it up to the whole community this coming August. When we reach beta, we may even keep it open for some time so we can get help finding and documenting bugs from members of AT and other communities on Scratch.

I'm curious... What is the reason for keeping it private?

sad  Only a beta? Are you still thinking of releasing the full thing sometime this year?

EDIT: That didn't come out right. I'm merely wondering if that's still your plan. Sorry if that seemed disrespectful.

I am aware of that, yes.  tongue  There could be some serious bugs that require multiple-month delays in beta previews.

Aww.
I understand you want to develop among developers only, but I kind of liked having a secret way in and checking on how you guys were doing. (I like it so far :3)

TELL ME OR I WILL DESTROYY... XD

There is no username or password. Your to late now; it was avalible a few days ago in May. Well, there are a few things that do work;
1. Embedding Scratch 1.0 - 1.4 projects in Scratch 2.0 Alpha player/editor and seeing inside with this HTML:

Code:

 <object width="483" height="387" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://alpha.scratch.mit.edu/scratchr2/static//Scratch_new.swf">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true">
<param name="flashvars" value="project=http://scratch.mit.edu/static/projects/Jonathan50/2602378.sb?version=1">
</object>

2. Downloading This
3. Going to your computer's date and time settings. Set it to an appropriate day in May.
This probbally won't work, although once I did it!

Re: Scratch 2.0 Alpha

I'm starting to see people acting silly here "i want it now" "make an exe" "give me html 4 free favorates!"

Seriously, if you're not the do-it-all-yourself kind of person, you will be really disappointed at the current state. Javascript needed to switch modes, nonworking menu bar/cloud vars, etc.

(No that the ST is doing bad on those, they look good! Keep it up!  big_smile )
