I love the ease at which you can see statistics  big_smile

Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Re: What do you think of the Scratch 2.0 Prototype?

Hi,

I fiddled around for a couple of hours in Scratch 2.0 and I'm amazed to see what you people put in, expecially regarding the 'new block'-interface. I hope it helps to promote the idea of (embedded) recursion as a key feature of Scratch.
Secondly I hope it will help children to start using new block as reporters who output values to other procedures.
The new editor is great, especially fot kids who are into graphic design. My thanks and compliments.

Re: What do you think of the Scratch 2.0 Prototype?

I thought I posted this but can't find it now - apolgies if a duplicate

1.  Great Work - loving concept of scenes for using Scratch as animation/storytelling tool

2.  Clone Sprites - brilliant - can't wait to write Missile Command using them

But will definitely need a standalone version as Internet relaibiliy is just not good enough in any of the schools I work in.

Clone sprite variable debugging - can I view each cloned sprites variable instances - tricky to debug problems otherwise  sad

Can we please leave it up for a least 2 weekends to give us more time to play and feedback  smile

Looks cool, but nothing works for me!I cant even veiw projects (example ones)!

Could be a problem with your browser configuration such as:

  - Flash is not installed (or Flash is disabled)
  - JavaScript is disabled

Scratch 2.0 requires Flash Player (version 10 or 11) and JavaScript.

If you get it working, please post here how you fixed it in case others have a similar problem.

Good luck!

That's definitely under consideration for 2.1...

Re: What do you think of the Scratch 2.0 Prototype?

I don't know if this is a problem with my computer or something but when I right-click a script the 'duplicate' option does not appear. This would be a very useful thing to have if you don't already  wink
Also because I love to point out tiny useless mistakes, the scratch cats front leg gets fatter when he switches to his alternate costume  big_smile
Overall though the new virsion is wonderful <3

What don't you like about it? With constructive feedback, they can make it better.  smile

Re: What do you think of the Scratch 2.0 Prototype?

Overall, I really like it!  big_smile

I just tested it out. I think the graphics are much better, and the layout of creating the project is easier. The "Events" category of the blocks make it easier to find blocks like "Broadcast []". I also enjoyed the backpack, it made it easier for me use the same block in different places, minus the hassle.

Great job Scratch team!  smile

Re: What do you think of the Scratch 2.0 Prototype?

Sorry to double post, but I just realized that the site layout is much more attractive than the current, and I really like it  smile

Quick question, will this replace the old Scratch.mit.edu, or will it be an entirely different site?

Re: What do you think of the Scratch 2.0 Prototype?

Scratch 2.0 is going to be absolutely aweseome!

A couple of tiny bug I found related to custom blocks:

1) When you've added inputs to a custom block you can drop all kinds of reporters into the block's definition, even those from the palette. In this case the custom block definition moves out of the hat block onto the scipting area, which looks very interesting...  smile

2) If you drop another variable reporter onto a custom block's formal parameter it stays there and replicates itself when you try to drag it out again. First I thought this was a (cool!) feature, but it turns out that dropping another formal parameter's block representation onto an existing one doesn't actually change the block's definition, so I take it that it must a be bug

3) When you shift click a formal parameter in a custom block definition you can delete it, and it gets replaced by the argument slot instance it is supposed to represent (but I also found out that simply editing the header and acknowledging it again fixes anything which can be broken that way

Way to go, it's sooo much fun playing with Scratch 2.0!

They haven't removed it, it's just for now commenting is disabled until the full version is released, from my understanding.
