Re: Electronic Music

you have a good concept, but you really need to diversify your chords. from what i can hear, you're using a [i-iv-vii-i] ish progression on a pentatonic scale. your tonic melody is good, but the melody was still the same while the bass moved around. while this is somewhat acceptable, your melody seems to be repeating itself a lot, making it seem like you were using perfect cadences throughout the whole piece. i recommend using half cadences (i-V, i-VI, iv-V) in the middle to make the whole thing seem more interesting. the bass is only doing the same thing for the entirety of the piece.

it would be a good idea to follow a standard "road map" for songs - A-B-C-A' or A-B-A'-C
et cetera. change the music around a bit; dont make it get boring. in addition, the kick usually doesnt hit on every beat - that would most likely be the clap. snares usually have dominance on the first and third, or second and fourth beat in common time.

the melody rests with a single instrument, which will make it feel bland after a while. a good way to fix this is to leave the melody with the main instrument for about two phrases, then have it go to the background, then respond to the melody with a counterpart instrument. i find that the violin and the synthesizer go well together.

Well, I sort of was winging this song ad not following any real pattern, I just sort of went with the flow  tongue  I didn't want to get to technical with this song, or my next one so they are a bit odd. I need to work on the mastering, so that's why the kick isn't sounding properly.

The only percussion I have is the kick and a hat, and I found 2 unique synths so yeah. No violin, but thanks for the feedback. I will incorporate it into my 3rd song and dedicate it to you  tongue

I was thinking of linking to newgrounds for the dl link, but it is probably just easier to link to youtube and dropbox.
