Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

I made a non-flash version of the game in the TBG so we can figure out how to perfect the rules and stuff

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

You should make Archmage be a level ∞. (That's a little, teensy, tiny, shrunken, small infinity sign.)

No

Yeah, Sci, I saw your design but it doesn't really have any room for all of the stuff the card needs, like card type and the timer.

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

I decided I want my card pic to be a computer monitor in a dark background, with a vortex image, similar to this in the monitor. Don't mind if it's more cartoony to fit the rest of the cards. Milling ability, Dark type and offense-centric if possible.

If it's a computer though it'd most likely have to be a robotic

Hmmm, don't mind that. Do the different types tend to have certain types of abilities? (i.e. in Magic, red plays offensive, green monsters tend to become more powerful with time, etc.)

I don't know but usually robotics have higher defenses since they're metal

Then I suppose it would fit better in Dark, if it's an offensive card with an special ability. Up to you, though.  smile

Do you need any help with the cards and the gameplay itself? I could offer to help, I've always wanted to create a Scratch TCG as I've mentioned, and I have a little experience playtesting a MLP card game, and along with someone else whose Scratch username I can't remember (he goes by the name Minkovsky now [EDIT: filo5.]), we once had 100~ ideas for cards for a failed card game of ours'.

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

Yeah the rules are still a bit of a blur, so some help would be great

I looked at the spreadsheet and those are really interesting ideas. Actually we were talking about the rules yesterday and J said that we could do programmers, artists, moderators, admins, forumers, etc. as card types but some would fall under more than one category, so that would be a good fix. What's this energy gaining system?

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

I want to be a card. My card would be Level 2  if we're doing tbgs + main forums, Level 1 if we're notMy special skills would be Coding Attack (takes 2 health from opponent's card or opponent and adds it to this card or the player who put this card down) and Velocity Smash (takes 6 health from opponent or opponent's card). For what my card would look like, I don't know... I was thinking maybe a stick figure hiding behind Scratch code... because I'm fairly good with programming.

You mean in my/filo5's cards? Can't remember well, but I think those +1, -1, etc. abilities changed your Tutoma value, which could be basically spent for strong abilities and earned by penalties on certain cards.

Once the basic rules are clear and if I can get access to a list of cards somewhere (in the form of a Google Docs spreadsheet perhaps, so anyone collaborating to this can edit and correct them.), I could help.

As for the types, I think the ones we have now are alright. Plant, Robotic, Warrior, Animal, Dark, Holy and Aquatic. Maybe keep Holy and Dark as scarce, special types (Maybe even keep them strictly as event/fusion cards?) And if we want these types to be basically different archetypes with different goals and abilities to reach them, we could have the following:

Plant/Insect - They generally start weak for their cost (if they have any, I think not) become stronger ("grow") with time, similar to the Green color in M:TG. Either that or something involving drawing cards.
Robotic - Their high HP and complex abilities to benefit the player's cards make them a mostly defensive class riddled with combo cards.
Warrior - They have a high attack, and abilities that often put the opponent to disadvantage.
Animal - They generally have a high attack and HP, but pretty much no special abilities, making them only good for raw, straightforward combat.
Aquatic - Average attack, HP and few abilities, but they have particularly long timers.

Holy - Healing, etc. abilties that benefit the player.
Creep/Dark - Abilities that put the opponent in big disadvantage.

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

Nah, I say either keep them to particularly rare and powerful cards, or only non-normal cards (i.e. event/magic, field and fusion cards).

No and we probably won't even have Scratch Team member cards (I don't feel like getting banned anytime soon). We were thinking of having them be the commander cards that make you lose the battle if they die but I don't know, we'd have to get their permission

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

I posted the rules of the game (so far) on the TBG topic. I would post them here but the rules and stats of the cards are different, also I would have to reupload them all to tinypic. I just used the dropbox URLs on the TBG

Re: Scratcher Trading Card Game

We still need the effect and stats of each of the TBG cards, I don't see how we're supposed to play strategically otherwise.
