Re: youtube to scratch

If it is legal, you could download the music as an .mp3 or .wav using ClipConverter or Zamzar and import into Scratch.

Re: youtube to scratch

I'm not sure if trinary's way works, and I have yet to test it, so while his or her way may work, I am not saying mine is better in any way, just sharing the way I would solve this problem.

1) Go to the video on YouTube in your browser
2) Highlight the URL (Stuff at the very top of the browser that usually has long, confusing symbols)
3) If you're on a Windows Computer, press Ctrl and C at the same time (with the URL still highlighted)
3) If you're on a Mac Computer, press Command and C at the same time (with the URL still highlighted)
4) Open a new window, or tab
5) Google "YouTube to MP3"
6) Click the first thing that shows up
7) Delete the URL that is in the box
8) If you're on a Windows Computer, press Ctrl and P at the same time
8) If you're on a Mac Computer, press Command and P at the same time
9) The URL that you copied earlier should show up
10) Press the "convert" button
11) Download the file
12) Close out of your browser
13) Open Scratch
14) Open the project you want the music in
15) Go to the "Sounds" section of the sprite you want the music script to play
16) Click "import"
17) Navigate to where you saved the downloaded file
18) Import it into Scratch

Viola!

Re: youtube to scratch

You can't legally do that unless the you either own the audio file already and for whatever reason are downloading it again or if the audio is copyright free which I highly doubt.

But if you wanna break the law, go right ahead and follow henley's steps.  big_smile

(In step eight of henley's method it should be "If you're on a Windows Computer, press Ctrl and V at the same time" though, not "If you're on a Windows Computer, press Ctrl and P at the same time").

Re: youtube to scratch

A simpler way would be to just record the sound while it's playing  tongue

Re: youtube to scratch

Another way to do it is go to the youtube video and put in "save" before youtube like this

http://www.saveyoutube

and follow the steps there and put it in the mp3 format

Re: youtube to scratch

Or you could download Audacity, set it to Stereo Mix, and record it. -insert obligatory copyright blah blah blah here-

Yeah, I wouldn't do that without permission or you could get fined. It is unlikely, but possible.

Try youtube to mp3 instead of mp4. Or .wav, which Scratch can support too
