When did Scratch start? Is it near any 'anniversaries'?

Scratch was publicly released sometime on May 15, 2007 (I'm not sure about the exact date). As for "anniversaries", Scratch Day is a day where people host events to celebrate and learn more about Scratch. This year its May 19, but it changes so it will always be on a weekend.
