I have a small tip. You should plan the website out a little more. Like the structure of it. Going straight in for a project as big as this wouldn't work out very well since everything seems unorganized.
Once you get the structure of the site, then start deciding who will do what part. Make sure to add priorities to each part. Since you don't want to work on project uploading without user authentication.
I'm willing to help with small coding bits and errors in code, but I can't really code anything major.

Which is precisely why 99.99% of projects fail. Off topic, I still need the exe for the 8089 mirror for DT.

I don't want any moderation privileges as I don't feel I'll be very active on this thing.
When the time comes I would be more than happy to code some parts of the player (although maybe not in java?).
Also, Magnie's right about planning everything out more before jumping into the project: Jacob and I took a long while before starting to code Mod Share!

Oh, also...
Wouldn't it be better to develop these features you mentioned separately, and then integrate them into Mod Share once they're finished? Mod Share has a really good base and it's been established for more than a year. It can easily handle the addition of these cool elements you are thinking about.
Besides, it's kind of pointless to have two sites that do exactly the same thing. It can also be very confusing for Scratchers and can end up raising discomfort between the two "rival" sites!

Yes, but the mod-share platform is proprietary, according to Jacob.

Though that may be true... some competition isn't always bad. Customers always want the better product.

Plus, having a monopoly is bad.

Jacob has a lot of this kind of ideas. The Mod Share platform may not be open source because of security issues, but we are more than happy to share small bits of code or explain how something works. In any case, it's not proprietary

So it's like semi-open? Like the website is open-source but the core is closed?

I guess you could say that Basically we don't want to reveal any information about the structure of the site or the way data is hashed and stored, but we're happy to give out the code.

Makes sense, I suppose.

Is code for any of the players available yet?
I am mainly interested in the BYOB player, as the Flash player on Mod Share doesn't work at all.

It is not possible to make a java player that can do everything the panther custom blocks can do - what if I make my own?

Darn. Who is making them?

TheSuccessor is making the panther player currently, though i have told him it doesn't have to include CYOB
No one else has signed up for the others.

OK, thanks. Once that's done, please ask him to let me know, as LS and I want to put it on Mod Share.

One little problem: I had to pay for it in Dev Dollars.
So could you possibly give me a few DD's on Mod Central to help cover the cost of it (and possible future ones)?
If you don't want to, maybe we could work out an agreement about what to do.

I've got about 200 dev dollars, how many do you need?

the player is 25, so 5 would be enough to buy a license before the official release
In the meantime, why not use the mesh javaplayer by ZeroLuck?
Oh, and can you ask LS if I can have his mod on Mod Play?

I can be a moderator. I have had a lot of experience with moderating things. I am an administrator on the forums for Scratchers, and moderator on Mokat's forums.

1. OK, I can give 5 DD when necessary on Mod Central. Give them to TS, right?
1a. What is that? What mods does it support?
2. What mod are you referring to?
