Hm.

I have honestly never seen hate for Avatar aside from the movie version.

I've never seen either though.

I missed it. When it is on during Western time I'll watch it. I was really excited because I LOVED Avatar when I was 5-8.

It's my birthday. Deal with it.

The funny part about this series is that it's been rumored, right down to the name, since the year the original one ended.

The premier happened? I've heard about this, and was excited because I loved the original series, so I'm excited to see it online.

Depending on where you live, it may have, or not have premiered already in your timezone.  But it was most definitely supposed to premiere today.  Mako and Korra totally like each other >___<

Re: Avatar: the last airbender/the legend of korra

i did. they even have the first part on itunes for free. i downloaded it on my ipod. I would have recorded it on TV, but since we got the new sattelite, the recorder wont even record anything but a black screen. luckily, it also airs on sunday, so i'll have to find out how to fix the recorder tonight before tomorrow. And because of the premiere of the new avater, i also drew a picture of aang, the previous avatar (black and white in pencil, of course): http://funny6755123496745376.wikispaces.com/file/view/aang_drawing.PNG/320527550/528x725/aang_drawing.PNG

Loved the way they went with it.  It is definitely different from the first, and not necessarily in a good or bad way.  My prediction: uprising happens very soon and the rest of the season has Korra and all the benders in hiding.

Re: Avatar: the last airbender/the legend of korra

As long as I'm talking about it (and admitting that I'm watching it and enjoying it) :

One of the major positive factors of the original series was the character of Zuko (not just the moral conflict stuff  tongue ) or the aura of Iroh (both of which the creators built up brilliantly).  I haven't seen anything as promising yet in terms of characters, but then again, if I had just watched the first episode of season 1, I would have written Iroh off as the writer's attempt to be humorous, and Zuko as the blundering protagonist (oops?).  Only time will tell I suppose.

On the other hand, this time they have developed a antagonist that we can actually empathize with.  I see it as "feudalism vs communism" (inherited power vs. equal power).

The more advanced time period isn't necessarily a bad thing; actually, right now I am pretty happy with the technological advancement, though I had misgivings at first (though just how things got quite so advanced is still a question I want answered  tongue ).

Re: Avatar: the last airbender/the legend of korra

My favorite part about it is that they're toying with the fact that everyone wants to know what happened to Zuko's mother. They are going to talk about it, but later in the series. I know that because in the first episode one of Aang's grandchildren asks katara about Zuko's mother but before katara can speak she gets interrupted with nonsense from another of Aang's grandchildren.

Re: Avatar: the last airbender/the legend of korra

Who was Toph's husband?
Old characters out, new characters in!
Also, how did the others die? And the imposing question: Zuko's mom?

Yeah, that's pretty funny. They'll probably tell us near the end of the series, but build the suspense until then.

Re: Avatar: the last airbender/the legend of korra

I've done some research, I watched episode 1 and 2. There is a false rumour that those first two on the net are fake, FALSE. The prince zuko's mom will be revealed in a comic showing after the war. got to avatar wiki for more

Re: Avatar: the last airbender/the legend of korra

From these first two episodes, I feel like Nickolodeon is basically copying the old characters' personalities, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Bolin: Sokka.
Mako: Zuko.
Korra: Toph and Katara.

Well, there's a statue of Zuko in Republic City, too!
