Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

I like this new feature; often, very inappropriate posts/commercial spam can remain on the forums for up to an hour while there are no moderators online.

Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

Hmm... This could definitely backfire.

What if it was a duplicate topic?
Perhaps you should have a menu when reporting, with the options: "This is urgent" and "This is not urgent".

Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

I'm confused, though... what if we report it several times because we want a name change or something on our topic? Also, what if spammers make tons of accounts to report one post? That would be unfair... does it do it on each user, or each IP?

Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

This could be a problem- if a topic post is reported four times because it's in the wrong forum, it might not be good to have the person temporarily banned, especially if it's a new scratcher.
EDIT: Maybe you should whitelist some words like "move", "wrong forum", or "closed".

I think this question has been answered earlier on the thread.  smile

So - it's really really rare that 4 Scratchers all report the same topic before a mod actually sees and processes the report. (That's why it's set to 4). But if this does happen too much, we can increase the threshold to 5. But we don't anticipate this happening often at all - and even if it does, it'll just be a temporary block.

Perhaps you should block them from posting until a mod comes on instead of blocking them from the forum?

Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

Glad to see this has been implemented. Since it's still a few days until I get the title and features, do higher ranked reports show higher on the report list for mods?
Also, did you turn on the thing where reports containing "*" are ranked higher?

Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

The thing is, if someone does abuse the system, they could ban all the ST members. That would be REALLY bad.

What happens if someone gets 3 friends and reports every post they find by a user. Then the account will get suspended and they can't be on scratch for a while. sad

He can obviously change the website code. Lots of Scratchers could do stuff like that if we had the ability to edit the website.

Re: Changes to Reporting of Posts

Users get a temporary ban for 12 hours, so don't worry too much. And about the code for banning, it's some SQL query against the database, which only the ST has access to.

and, with all the amazing mods and ST members we have, the user(s) abusing it would probably be banned or at least warned first
