I know Scratch wasn't made for artwork, but I've been a little less than impressed with the graphics Scratch has. I've tried making the sprites with another program and then importing them, but Scratch reverts them all to scratch-quality graphics. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Will Scratch 2.0 have better graphics? Thanks for your help!

If you import sprites into Scratch that already have the exact size you need, Scratch will keep all the quality. The only thing the program reduces (and actually completely removes) is the alpha channel, so images with transparency won't work.

Yeah... Scratch's graphics are a little bit bad...

To say the least :p

I think scratch changes quality when the costume has the "wrong" size...
Edit: I just saw that LS96 already wrote something like that

Sorry, Scratch currently can only support images of this (EXTREMELY LOW) quality.
Fixed.

You guys probably already know this, but if you import your image without transparency into Scratch and edit it inside Scratch's Paint Editor (Use the Fill tool, select the transparent color from the palette and replace the unwanted white spaces), the image retrains most of it's quality while still being transparent. Hope this helps!

Are you using Scratch Alpha or Scratch 1.4? That doesn't seem to be working with my copy of Scratch.

No, there is nothing you're doing wrong, and yes, Scratch 2.0 will have vector graphics, so it will have improved graphics.
