I've heard many times that there was a Miscellaneous forum, but they closed all the topics in it. Why isn't there one anymore, and can't we have one?
MY REASONING:
1) Other sites have them, such as Pokestadium.
2) Is there really another way to go about this?
3) We as Scratchers need a way to communicate about our lives. Currently the only posts about daily life are about people leaving Scratch (well, apart from Things I'm Making And Creating and Things I'm Reading And Playing).
Is there a way to start a new one?

There was a Miscellaneous forum, but it was removed in late 2011.
I think the problem was that it was getting out of hand with the extreme range of topics people were posting, so the Scratch team decided to split it into two threads:
1) Things I'm Making and Creating,
2) Things I'm Reading and Playing.
The team also reorganized the entire forum layout to what it is now.
The current format is working just fine, and personally I see no reason to go back.

it was closed to limit spamming & unnecessary topics and to make moderation easier

Just because one site does, it doesn't mean they all do.

Yes.

I can honestly say I've never seen a quitting thread from a non-troll since the forums were revamped.

There was one, but it got removed due to the following reasons:
•It turned into discussions about "I have x disease!", "I hate WhatsHisName!", "I QUIT!", "5000 Posts!" and more.
•It was getting way too offtopic at times.
•Some major troll attacks happened there.
•People were attacking other Scratchers with topics on Misc.
•A particular user claimed that he was going to die. The mystery abou this may never be solved.
•Only about a third of users that were on the forums used the Misc. forum.
•Commercial spammers.

Can someone close this topic?

Report the OP saying to close it, then it'll get closed faster.

Well, my opinion is this : Have you ever seen the Mod Share forums? They have a forum called "off-Topic" where you can talk about anything. This is the type of thing Scratch could have. As for moderating it... Why is there elections to become a moderator? You can't really tell how a person would moderate. So we should just try it out. Once more. Off-Topic. If things go wrong... Then try again later.

They had it for a couple years. It started going badly, so they got rid of it. They still have two offtopic forums; they're just not for anything and everything, which, IMO, is good.

I think someone's played too much minecraft... *ahemredrocker*
The correct term is a mod or moderator. They watch the forums and help us and stuff like that. Just press the "report" button next to the "quote" button on the first post and say "could you please close this" or something like that...
