First of all, I dislike the band. I watched the auditions on youtube because my sister showed me. Some of them were kinda talented, and some weren't so talented. The thing I don't like is the only reason they were a band was because they auditioned. It's not all their fault that I don't like them. It's some fans. Not all the fans, but some people get on my nerves. People say that they will be the next beatles. No. Just no. The beatles always were, still are, and always will be a classic. They didn't need autotune or anything. I still respect their opinion, and they have the right to be entitled to have their own opinion. But some idiots think the beatles copied off of one direction! The beatles are much older than one direction! And if it's anything, One direction copied off of the beatles!
Also, don't comment on my grammar because I was in a rush. I know there are some grammar nazis on Scratch.

hey i noticed a weird pattern the other day with famous guy singers. here it is:
Justin Beiber (1)
Jonas Brothers (3)
One Direction (5)
Next there will be a band with seven guys, if the pattern is followed...

Well, I only heard one. ( what makes you beatiful)
I was saying, listening to an incredibly mainstream band does not make you a geek by any reasonable standard.

Not to mention a pop band.
And yes, it has definitely changed.

pop band = incredibly mainstream
pop is any currently popular music
I don't like to think it's changed. Just being abused.

What.
Anyways, I agree. Like with any singer(s) I don't like, they may be really good without autotune and if they wrote their own songs.

Wow.
I listened to the original auditions on The X Factor and they all had extremely average voices.
I've heard much better on similar shows that never rose to any fame.

Pop basically means "popular" but it also refers to a general sort of sound that popular music has. For instance, there are some rap songs that are popular right now (maybe?) but you wouldn't call them "pop". Same with other music that was popular at the time they were made, like no one would call Guns 'N' Roses pop even when it was popular, but according to Google one of their songs was the number 5 hit in 1988.
I guess the exact definition hasn't changed, but the connotations have, like it used to be an insult but now it's not so much, especially because most "nerd" hobbies like computers and science fiction (other than Star Wars) are sort of mainstream now.
By the way, you know how they rapped the theme song (rap?) for Fresh Prince? They skipped a whole stanza.

Although I don't enjoy listening to their music I guess there will always be boy bands in this world and young girls are better listening to these guys than Nicki Minaj or one of those God-awful role models for children.

Yeah, this was a little offensive.
She's actually a good role model, if you actually know about her.

I find what you're saying hard to believe.
Go and analyze her lyrics. Do you honestly think that she's sending a good message to children and how they portray themselves?

Look at the video of her singing super bass with Sophia Grace and Rosie (full)
That's all I have to say.
Or type.

What about the fact that she offended Muslims?
"I don't [mess] with pigs like asa lama lakum"
"asa lama alakum where [in the world] is Akbar"
Both of these times she uses Muslim greetings and words inappropriately and offensively. Akbar means "almighty one" (iirc) so to use it there is bad.
Also, at a festival, she was extremely late and offered no apology for it. Then, she had the people MOW the grass around her temporary tent.
If this was just some concert being attended ONLY by people who wanted to see Nicki Minaj, this could be excusable, but it wasn't. She was late for a festival where MANY acts play. She pushed back the performance of a more popular band. Being late is disrespectful to all her fellow artists who were relying on the time they were supposed to perform.

Guys, you are getting WAY off-topic here. Why not start your own topic if you want to discuss Nicki? But keep it respectful, please.

They actually co-wrote some of the songs. I think Harry and Niall helped write GBY. But I have to say, I HATE some of the lyrics. In my opinion, 'Everything About You' is so poorly written, but the song itself had potential...
