Hey guys, I'm starting a new little collab group called Trippin' studios. Were going to be a small group of maybe 4 people who come out with short clips and games, called Trippin' studios. The current project I have planned for the group is a small game call Cubist's Paradise. It will be an adventure game based around a small world. The art style will be based on a cubist perspective. I'm waiting till we get some more writers to get more info out on this one.. For this project I will work on the art (I know how to make cubist images.) Right now were looking for the following, and have the following:
Writers: All4One
Artists: XenoK_Studios
Programmers: Lukanater
Sound Techie:
To join, please post your three best projects. I will evaluate them. Once we have a second person, they will assist in deciding who gets in, and so on until all four spaces are filled.
Once all four spaces are filled, I will decide on an assistant manager based on how well they perform during the first project.

I would like to join, maybe as a writer! I can think of plots and possibly write dialogue for cutscenes. I have plenty of experience with writing, for example with Gamer's Delight (my Scratch mag). Also, I've made and written a series a long time ago called "Mario and Luigi: The Revenge of Kirby" that mixed action with comedy. You can also check that out, but I think I'm a little better at writing now. Also, check out the dialogue style of "Opening Weekend".
Hope I can help.

Alright, so I'm beginning to develop a sort of idea of how Cubist Paradise is going to work. The player starts out by building a character. They choose heads, colors, and all that jazz. Next they start out in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a few items. They don't remember what happened, but they need to figure it out. It will be something I'd like to call and Open-Ended point and click. They use a point and click perspective to adventure throughout an open-ended word. If you've ever played Adventure Quest, you know what I mean. They will be able to traverse the map as well through a similar map system contained in AQ. The difference between this and AQ is AQ has no goal, while Cubist's Paradise has a main quest you may complete. One the main quest is completed. Heres some of the features I plan on including:
P&C interface
Innovative Combat System (We will all plan this out.)
Lots of Quests
Loads of Stats (effecting things from combat skills to thieving to map exploration.)
LOADS Of Classes (I'm talking like 30 classes.)
Loads of Shops/Items/Spells/Areas/Enemies.
Save/Load System
Cheats (we will unveil one cheat for each love-it.)
All4, if you dislike anything/wish to change anything tell me. Anybody who joins in the future, you get the same option.

I can be artist, and design your guys' logo!

You are extremely fit for the art style I was looking for
I'm capable of making a logo though (unless you really want to of course.)
Edit: I made a logo.

Edit2: Forgot to ask you all4one, do you wish for XenoK to be part of the collab?

Bump
Edit: also when XenoK get's voted in (if he does.) We will start development. We do not really need an SFX techie from the start.
Edit2: I've made a starting screen for the game. The actual game wont be cubist, as that would make it very hard to understand. Here it is:

Sweet! XenoK, you're in!
Edit: Alright, I'm starting to work on the engine. All4, I need you to write up an entrance letter. The player begins the game with a strange letter in their pocket. use you're imagination, but heres some light perimeters. Just to let you guys know, I know nothing about the story yet. I want the story to flow naturally from our ideas as we build the game:
*The player knows nothing about their past. Don't reveal anything cool you may come up with that the player may learn later in the game.
*Don't give any names.
*Make it very mysterious, almost as if it's a prank.
And XenoK, I was wondering if you could make a landscape view image of a sort of magical forest. It will be very light and flowery, sort of an elvish forest. My second request to get us started is if I could get a drawing of a person. I would like three copies of this person, but each with a different haircut. I'm currently building character generation.

Alright, I've added the following:
Starting screen with new game and load buttons.
If you click new game, you will find yourself in the woods. The Quest log paper is up. This just a list detailing all your quests. along the bottom of the screen I've added three buttons. One brings up the quest log, one brings up your stats, and one brings up the world map. If you click on them then they will be enlarged and you can read them. I've also added a bar along the top showing your health, MP, SP, and EXP. I'm going to build an inventory system next. If you guys could inform me that you've read my previous post, and tell me whether or not you could complete that, it would be nice.

alright! I'll start my work! just one thing, the logo is a little hard to read. I'll make one, and propose it. and I'll start working on everything you asked me to.

I'm personally honored to be in this, I was thinking that Eternity Inc. (a group i own) could use some more inside information on the ways of collaborations, and joining one, was the perfect way to do so, and I found this! Awesome work so far, btw! You officially have Eternity Inc.'s support

Alright, sweet! thanks for replying.
Do you want to see what I've currently finished for the engine?
Can you just make the text so I can swap them out (this is actually one of my favorite abstract pieces I've made, I really enjoy the coloring on the background.
Edit: Sorry, you replied while I was typing this up. Thanks, I hope eternity Inc. goes really well. This is actually my first collaboration that I've started that got off the ground. I've been in the ownership box of other groups, but this is the first time I've actually started it and gotten people. I've been on here a while, but I've only been using these forums for a couple months.

oh sweet, I really like the coloring! I just need to scale it down a bit.
Edit: nevermind, it fits...
Edit: So do you guys want to see how the games coming so far? Theres not much so far, just layout stuff.
Edit2: So do you guys have any cool ideas for the combat system? Heres something I was thinking of:
You enter combat.
The enemy has a set speed which they attack. You may press X to block their attack.
You may also click and drag the mouse to slash at them. You may not block and slash at the same time. The power of your slash is based on how long the slash is, and how quickly you made it, and your strength skill.
Archery will use a slightly different system. In this system when you enter combat, the enemy will see you have a bow, and duck for cover. You need to shoot at them as they pop up to get you.
Magic I have a very interesting system on my mind. You select a spell, and the shape of three runes come up. Time will slow and you will have time to perform this action. When these three rune shapes come up, three runes will quickly glide up to meet them. Your goal is to use the 1,2,3 keys to hit the runes at the right time. Then you need to recharge that specific spell, and use other ones. This one I'm still debating on whether or not it will be fun... I'm especially asking you guys for input on this.

alright, I'm going to make an account for the group and upload it there.
Edit: there was a minor glitch. I think it's on scratches side, as I see no issues in my algorithms. Uploading once I iron that out.
Edit2: Solved it. Uploading in a minute.

Progress check, how are you guys going? What have you completed so far? Don't worry about lying or anything to sound like you've been working even if you haven't, I'm cool if you haven't started it. I'm just hoping to work on the first city Friday (tomorrow.)

Wow XenoK, way better than I ever expected! Follows my image to nearly the last detail! Thank you, I'm really happy to have you in the group.
Edit: Heres my progress report:
I'm currently working on combat.
I've created an inventory system with a snap to grid.
I'm working on character creation.
Working on the class system.
Once all variables are set, I'm building the save/load system
Once all the above are completed, we'll be ready to build the actual game.
So far on combat I'm just doing melee right now. I'm going with my idea for melee where you slash and damage is calculated based on the speed and size of the slash. It's actually simpler than traditional combat systems to make.
Heres how it works:
Player click. This sets an object called "attackdistancer" where they click.
A variable, called speed, begins counting. It counts by 1 every tenth of a second. This is then divided by 10, to figure out the slash speed. The final power will be divided by this number, so you want it to be small.
When the player releases the mouse, it will calculate the distance from mouse to "attack distancer."
It will also draw a little red line to look like an attack.
Finally, a hit will be calculated based on if the enemy is touching this red line. Heres my damage equation:
DMG = RANDOM(strength*distance/speed - 5) to (strength*distance/speed + 5)
Edit 2: XenoK, since you've finished this, I would like a landscape of a small town. This is like just a medieval village, and an interior for one of the houses. I would like you to wait to start on this until you finish the player bodies. These bodies will also be a base for any humanoids in the game.
