Darn awesome! You got it! But can you make the schooner smaller than the others, it goes in this order:
Smallest- Schooner
Medium- Galleon
Biggest- Frigate
Note:
On my side, I have completed the scrolling portion of the game. Along with a map that can be toggled on the bottom left corner. Now I am working on adding wind to the game.
That's fine. I was just getting scale in for three different sizes of ships, doesn't matter what each size is called, at least not for the image of them (well, except for looking at what each one looks like).
What exactly do you mean by "80% detailed"? Like, a little less detailed than the ships that were proposed a page or so back? Or what?Hmm...maybe fully detailed... Make it fully realistic. Like the islands and the water.
Also, can you draw:
Houses
People
Clock Tower (a unique one for each island)
Make these things top-right view.
Thanks

So this game you're making will run off a separate site? Or can you still play it on the scratch website?
Well, I think the single player version will be able to. But for the MMOG, I'm pretty sure you will have to download it and use it in scratch.
I made a nice little map today
Now you can toggle it with m. Press I for inventory too.
Great. Did you upload it?

Not Yet, didn't add the right ship sprite or water. Water needs to be loopable, right now it is just using a lame replacement. The ship i drew myself and looks like a brown oval. Lol, that won't work. Once SD7 has the ship sprites and loopable water done, I will upload. Also need to finish inventory and add wind.

Well, this is "fully realistic." Full-on high poly (albeit there's no textures on it, just flat model). My islands and water aren't even close to looking fully realistic. Not by a long shot. And for a simple sprite, high-poly isn't necessary. This is really all we need for a simple scratch game, especially since it's a top-view game

I can do all those things, but I need some things answered. How big do you need the total area of the water (in pixels), so I can render out a full image of the whole ocean. Also, by "top right" do you mean sort of like the houses here?

Hmmm, well in the scratch game, the world size, or entire size of the map is set to 2200. I'm not sure if each x and y position is equal to 1 pixel, but I know that the width of the screen is 480 long and 360 is the height. So if you made cutouts of 480 by 360, then that would be perfect. Great ships! You are going to be famous for sure! Hahahaha, amazing.

Yes, like that! Second image. That looks like a viking ship though.
(I know you were just setting an example.)

Ok. I don't really know how your scrolling screen works, but I was thinking it would just have an image that's larger than the scratch screen that you just move around. If it works somehow differently, correct me.

Well i have spent the last few days drawing my world map and I set at the begining a size of 15x15 or 7200x5400 pixels. Right now i am wishing it was a bit bigger, but that size is already pretty massive, its going to have over a thousand trees.
I really wouldnt reccomend anything under 10x10 because it just seems too small to me. I can upload the 15x15 engine im using if you would like

I'll go with this since it's the first solid number I've seen
Ok awesome SD7, scrolling works like you said. You basically have an image larger than the screen. In our case it's 7200x5400. We then split it into pieces. Like Gamer Keeg says. Each piece is 480x360 which exactly fills the screen.

Okay guys, here is V 0.01 of our game. It has no water scrolling yet, since the loop able water hasn't been made yet and it has no island porting. The Island sprites are old, they aren't SD7's latest, we can replace them later and the boat sprite is a junky replacement while we wait for that sprite. Check out the notes to see more.
Note: The interface works except for the chat button, just nothing added. For example, if you open up the variable damage and change it by 5. The health bar will change. Here it is:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/itsmomito/2432485
Edit: Also going to replace the Gold, Cargo, and Crew Morale variables with sprites like the Food and Crew Indicator. Unless it takes up too much space. Food changes by -2 every 15 seconds, just a temporary thing that can easily be changed.

I'm not head, but I don't think we're hiring programmers.

Im really sorry Zap, we don't have so much room for more programmers. But, if you want to join the group somehow. We could try to see how we could fit you in.
Btw: Thanks for making me assistant head CoolHogs. I appreciate it, I'll do my best.

Really nice system. You mentioned wind- will that allow ships to travel faster when they enter a windy zone?
Also, once I've got all the in-game stuff (boat, islands, etc.), I can design some nicer-looking HUD elements (the Gold, Crew, Food, border, and all that)

Also, I'm having a little trouble with the ship. It looks great from the side, not as realistic as that big old high poly I posted earlier, but as far as shape it looks nice. Only issue is that from top down it looks like a rectangle with a long pointed front and a beveled end. Since the masts are viewed straight down, they just look like dots, and the sails don;t add a whole lot from the top down. I'll fiddle with things and look up some references, hopefully get it looking good.

Haha Thanks SD7! It would be great to replace those. I just made them as a quick temporary place holder. For the wind, you are correct. When the boat is facing the wind direction or turning towards the wind, it will slow down. If it is going with the wind, it will speed up
I borrowed some of the ideas from Paddle2See's project Privateer. Hehehe.
