Modified water, can now be tiled seamlessly (and tweaked the appearance so it looks a little darker and dangerous- it is pirates after all).

Hmmm, You are in charge of making the inventory, I suggest you create a sprite as an inventory for the player and another sprite for the places like the market where you can purchase things. From there, you can create a variable for money and a way to purchase the items from the market into your inventory. This is just one way, basically you are creating the player inventory system.

Depends on what kind of inventory we are making. I can create the ship inventory, which is for purchasing food, cannonballs, and other items. For the actual player inventory, I think he will need something like the inventory system in Diablo http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/4/3749/15301.jpg

Well, there will need to be a sprite for each item and the inventory should be another sprite that is a grid. Items include what Coolhogs and Imagineit were posting earlier. Basically just 2 grids and the items inside, 1 grid is the market, the other is the player.

Im thinking I will make adjustments to the map icon text and location and I will fix the island porting animation. I will also fix the increase in speed when the boat departs from the island, I'm not really sure what causes that. Oh yeah, I'll see if I can make the Islands appear brighter in contrast with the water and fit in all together. Otherwise, we might have to do something else to make them look like one sprite.

Edit: I took a look at the islands and water, I think we will have to add some kind of outline to the island sprite so that it can blend in more with the water, kind of like the other version of the Island SD7 made with a shore line. @SD7 Do you think it is possible to change the island so that it has a shoreline that could fit in with the water? The problem is see is that the island would have to be in a exact position on the water, and the shore wouldn't be seamless in other positions.

I made the basic market trading system, it lets you trade 6 different items with each island and each island has it's own randomly generated stock. Now, I will improve it with icons, and a price based on the amount available, so the higher the stock, the lower the price. I will also need to get a sprite with all the numbers on the HUD so that I can make that a working HUD. We are well on our way guys!  smile

Yay! V 0.1 is updated. The Market System now lets you trade and fill your ship inventory, you can trade at an island with surplus in one resource and sell for more at another  smile  Now the game has a economy. I will now add a way to find out which islands have shortages and surpluses in the pub, there they can pay some gold to find out. To access the market, just port at a island, press market and trade  smile  Then go to another island and sell it. HUD still needs number sprites to display food, crew, and ammunition.

Edit: HUD is now working very well, all displays are functional except for the health bar. You can press the bottom silver bar to popup other displays.

Just a heads up, I may be a bit slow on producing proper sprites currently, as I'm mainly trying to focus on my senior project for school.

Question: how do you win? In an MMO environment, do you have to collect all the gold or something by combating your opponent ships and whatnot?

the thing is mine wont be completly online it will be a JAVA DOWNLOAD due to me using panther for better usage i have to convert it into java when finished heh my version will have a lil more and a lil less

Here are some things that could make the game look a lot better, just suggestions. I don't know how hard it is to do these:

Island shore animation
Water Animation
Boat Sail Raise and lower animation
Boat Sail fluttering in wind
Creeking boat animation
Boat water trail animation

It's basically a typhoon... Good idea! And when a ship gets some food, he/she has a choice to give it to his/hers group. Can we also make a website?
