Norton freaks out if it sees anything that it doesn't recognize. Get a better AV program, like AVG or Avast.
It may have been a real virus, but it is still a good idea to ditch Norton.![]()
Norton is what my family uses. Plus, it does work pretty well.

Try Fortinet or AVG.
Fortinet is rather expensive though, and it's advanced.
Norton?
Pfffffffffff.
Worst. Antivirus. EVER.

Ok, so we all know that websites can have viruses. However, I've noticed CRAZY virus activity on deviantART, a website that most of you have accounts on. Even I have an account. Just minutes ago, I was on DA when my norton 360 scanner detected a HIGH RISK virus trying to crash my computer. It restarted my computer an alerted me of the virus and that the virus was prevented. I looked to see where the virus came from, and there, on the "Source of problem" list was DeviantART. From now on I will only check my DA account over my 3DS internet. Those of you who DON'T have norton 360 and have a DA account, QUIT NOW. PLEASE!!!
It's not just dA, it's pretty much every website with ads. A while back, a lot of dA member were infected with malware and viruses because of a certain malicious ad. The incident wasn't isolated to dA, though, my computer also got infected at one point when I was on another website running the same ad.
There's been a lot of complaints because of it. The really simplest way to deal with the issue is for the dA staff to simply remove the ads, but the staff decided to to put in a system for people to report ads (a system which I find ridiculous since you'll end up reporting the ad only after your computer manages to get struck) because the ads bring in some revenue - at the same time, though, many dA users like myself have resorted to using things like AdBlock to not see the ads, which is a big backfire. dA might as well remove the ads anyway, or they have to more aggressive in their ad screening process if they desperately want the ads to be viewed again for revenue reasons.
use ghostery
so amazing

be careful with avg, i heard from my tech guy that you can get viruses from a fake version of something similar. I personally recommend Microsoft security essentials and malwarebytes. And now I wait for someone to say that i'm wrong and that those are horrible spyware programs that will make my computer eat the cat like my friends did.

Absolutely do NOT get Webroot. It has some feature that monitors the Internet sites you go to, blocking bad ones, and It freaks over Adobe.com!

What
You act as if all other antiviruses wouldn't be able to handle it
Norton is a default HP utility
That means it's not exactly amazing. (Read: That means it's ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.)
I use other (Read: far, FAR better) things to do what Norton does. (And then some)
You should too.
Then you won't have to worry.

PS: Dear mac/linux users,
90% of my games have not been and will not be ported to your OSes,
you don't get viruses because nobody cares about you users enough to make one for your OS,
and while your OS looks and operates well, I'll give you that, what's the point if next to none of their programs have the functionality of mine?
Sincerely, Windows users.

Aw, are those last two posts for me?
Thank you kindly.
Well, except for the arrow to the knee bit.
That joke is so overused the jokes complaining about it are overused.
Also, use the far superior windows, if you want to be considered a true gamer.

Malwarebytes? Is that what you're talking about?

Another case of somebody not knowing what they are downloading.

That's a bit of a strange thing to say, when millions of people across the globe have no problems with it. Why doesn't it work?

Popular websites almost always have a few viruses lingering around. In your case, I'd say more than a few. Back when I played Roblox, my dad made me stop playing becuase theres a risk I could get a nasty vius from the site. From what I know, we have never had any virus problems, but that doesn't mean they aren't real.

avast, the newest version of your browser, ad block plus, and an add-on that stops you from being tracked (ghostery or something similar; i use do not track plus)
and there you go
no worries

Good job. I had windows 7 with AVG... now I have windows 7 with windows defender...
AKA I have windows 7 with no substantial virus guard.
