And then the Red (from G/S) style battle with Max (with a backstory in that he stepped down from being the champ)

On-topic: We need a rock-type gym in the town/city with the mine. And later on in game you can find that Crystal-ly thing we mentioned earlier on.

We do need an Oreburgh City-like place (maybe a reference to South Africa's famed Diamond Mines).

And dat Crystalex (I fink dat be teh name)... yeah, it could go in teh miny thingy.
