Re: Pokemon- Land Version and Pokemon- Sea Version Collab

The first thing I saw when I looked at this was Tentacool. My reaction (before I realized it wasn’t Tentacool) was this: Nuh-uh, girlfrand!
And then I saw what it really was.
There’s a problem with Wactopus, and there’s only two ways to fix it:
1) Redraw it and its evolutions OR
2) (This one’s easier) Rename it and its evolutions.

Why? Well, it’s simple: Wactopus is named after an octopus. Wactopus looks like a jellyfish. That goes for its evolutions, too. Just a plain, sad little jellyfish with the same problem I pointed out with Flarcat. And then it evolves into a jelly-prince, then later, king-o-the-jellies. The first order of business with Wactopus is to add some flair. Second is to make Wactoprince special (he’s only a jellyfish with a crown. Cool, but a bit unoriginal.). Third is to make Wactoking more kingly, as he’s pretty much a larger version of Wactoprince, much like Seegra and Seeling.

Your major problem, Max, is that the fakemon are either too similar to their evolutions, too different, or too bland. I’m not shaming you, though. These are some of the hardest questions a fakemon creator has to answer: how different can I make this evolution without turning it into an entirely different Pokémon? How can I spice up my creature enough so that it’s interesting, but still can be recognized as what it’s based off of? How can I give this fakemon personality, with looks to match? How will I change these characteristics during evolution without entirely stripping it of its identity?
I’ll tell you, that’s one of the major reasons why I almost never have evolution lines. I can make them if I wanted to, but it’s so hard to fit in all of these details in one 80 x 80 sprite. Seriously, don’t feel bad or stupid about any of this. I haven’t been able to answer more than two of these questions with my fakemon during my entire spriting career.
So, if any of you are still alive after this triple- no, make that quadruple-whammy of text, could I have opinions on my reviews?

Re: Pokemon- Land Version and Pokemon- Sea Version Collab

I think WE should literally be the Elite 4 and Champion.

Zangooser: We could call you Zan you could specialize in Psychic-type
Pokedirector: We could call you [insert name] and you could specialize in whatever type thats not dragon
Popopobob: You could be call Pop or Bob, and you could specialize in Water type
The1UP: You could be called [insert name here] and specialize in Grass type

Maxdoss: I could be the Chapion Max and specialize in Dragon type pokemon.

Hmmmmm.... I think your reviews really helped. I'm not that much of a spriter, as you can see. Maybe you or Pokedirector could fix some of the problems.....

Psychic? Not much of a psychic-type-person. Maybe Steel, or even Normal, seeing what Pokemon my username suggests. I think those would fit me best.

Champion of Dragon-types, huh? Better watch your back, 'cause Champion Lance will be ticked off. XD

I think Normal would work for you. Now that you mention Steel, I want to do Steel type now.

Mmh. Having been a Pokemon-obsessed nerd for most of my life, I know what you used for your splice, every single Pokemon.
Show-off time!
Head from Delcatty, body from Skitty, fire from Infernape.

Oh, and about the sprite itself: it looks pretty flat. Did you recolor the shades?

Oh right I see 1 flaw in the plan with cutting the game in half, how will the game know what pokemon you had in the last game???

This is why I'm not a programmer, I'm completely clueless. XP

On a different note, your sprite inspired me to make a rough version of Flarcat. It's almost done, and I'll post it once I finish it.

Good. Maybe just flaming tail and/or ears, and it would look beast.

Nice job!  Kinda seems a little tiny though....
As for me in the Elite 4.  Call me Jay, Josh, or Jack, whatever name you like the most.  Like D/P/P, I think we should have our main type, plus 1 other Pokemon of your choice.  I would like to be Flying type.  This would be my team if we used Pokemon up to D/P/P:

Crobat
Skarmory
Pelipper
Slaking

Slaking is epic  smile

Like most games, we use some old ones at the start, then let the rest appear for the National Pokedex.  Speaking of that, how are we going to do the Pokedex?

Wait you said, when I asked about that break thing and how will it know the pokemon, you repied 'a code'. Well I cant think of a code for that.
