I'll have a look at them
I'm not actually having any problems with griefing yet but I know it may become a problem as the world grows.

I don't pay for anything

Yes, on my own computer, with bukkit

I suggest you get these plugins: World Edit, Friendly Creeper, Lockette, Safe Fire, Whoplacedit.
Explanations about them are very good so I can decide whether or not to install them

WorldEdit:
WorldEdit is an in-game map editor that is useful for both:
Creative: Build super structures you've only previously dreamed up in days instead of months. Build from far away with Minecraft's most powerful brushes. Copy, paste, and repeat structures with ease! Generate spheres and cylinders. Write useful build scripts in JavaScript!
Survival: Remove a griefer's lava, rollback to previous versions of the world, build a NPC village for your server, regenerate chunks, fix broken pools of water, move buildings -- fix problems quickly and easily! Administrate your server efficiently.
WorldGuard:
Protect your world by selectivity turning off fire, controlling item usage, blocking TNT, and protecting areas. Most features are disabled by default (this keeps WorldGuard lightweight, even if it has a lot of options.)
Protect areas and set flags (like mob spawning, greeting messages, etc.) on regions, controlling who and what happens in zones
Many flags available: pvp, mob damage, mob spawning, creeper explosion, ghast fireball, sleep disable, TNT, flint and steal, fire spread, lava fire, lightning, chest protection, water flow, lva flow, button/door use, vehicle placement, snow fall, leaf decay, greeting message, farewell message, administrator notifications on enter/leave, automated healing, blocked/allowed commands, respawn location, physical entry or exit blocking
Ban, log, alert, and control the use of certain items with the blacklist
Simple user-controlled chest protection by placing signs (disabled by default, won't conflict)
Disable and control TNT, flint and steel, creepers, fire spread, lava spread, ice and snow melting, weather, leaf decay, ice formation, fall damage, and many other things
Bring back the sponge from Classic that takes away water
Make pumpkins let you breathe underwater
/god, /heal, /slay, /stack to make item stacks, /locate for compass fun
/stopfire and /stoplag are there in emergencies
Much much more!
Basically, no bukkit server is complete without WorldEdit and WorldGuard. I use it, get it.

I had 25565 port forwarded since a long time ago when I did a bit of classic serving.
Then I simply downloaded the Minecraft server.exe and used that until someone pointed out that Bukkit is better, so I switched to that and copied pasted the world folder.
My ext. IP is always changing. To get a static one you have to pay lots of $$$ so I simply got a dynamically updating dyndns domain name
Try using a cracked client.
Lemme check my whitelist again as well
EDIT: Didn't work for me as well so I restarted server. Should work now

I'm pretty sure you don't need to use a cracked client...
And dyndns is completely free. I paid nothing whatsoever to get this server started

What happened?
It disconnected me and said 'End of stream' and now it's saying I'm not whitelisted!

There is something really buggy with the whitelist. I can't login either. I will get it fixed right now. In fact, if you login in 5 min, you'll probably be able to login again.

Huh?People who pirated Minecraft. If the server is set to offline mode, it doesn't check against the database on minecraft.net and modified versions of the client can let you get on without a paid account.
Also it still says I'm not whitelistedRemoved whitelist for now.
And yes, it is offline mode.
No whitelist in offline mode?
