Yes, yes they were.

Anyway, all I've played were Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart Double Dash on GCN and played Super Mario 64 DS and LoZ OoT 3D so they don't really count. And Super Mario Sunshine's difficulty shocked me - I played this after I completed Super Mario Galaxy.

"Super Mario Sunshine" just might be the most difficult in the series, unless you count "The Lost Levels".
