How good are you in Java?
Can you tell me some things you have done with it?
And how could we communicate? E-Mail?
I could help a little bit

Okay.
But we aren't allowed to share our e-mails in the forums...
Is there an other way?

No I didn't. And I don't really see what's wrong with switching. It's not like they'd make the whole editor in Java, and they're definitely not staying with Squeak. There's really no reason not to use Flash, especially considering that it comes with Chrome.

Why would we want this? There's already a ton of work that's been done on flash. Really, the Java player was buggy and slow; imagine buggy and slow for the whole entire program!
There are already tons of projects that work in the Flash Player and not Java - I don't think we should look back now. Just my opinion.I agree, kind of.
Why don't we just make it in Javascript?
- Java is slow, and hard to learn but secure. 8/10
- Flash is fast, more projects work on it, but less secure. 9/10
- Javascript is slow, untested, but you can't really hack it. It is also a bit easier to learn. 9/10
Im actually currently making a reader in JavaScript, dont think it'll be able to handle sb's though...

XenoK, it would probably be a bad idea. It's just that Flash seems the quicker option, and they've already started it. Not to mention Flash can allow user to import and download things to localhost. It just has a wider range of blocks really.

JAVA can accomplish all of that and sooo much more! it's a better choice, and has been around longer than flash. I don't understand why the scratch team would make it in flash, like doesn't the IDE for it cost money? Eclipse is free!

they announced Scratch 2.0's creation in 2009, and said it would be released in 2011. We odviously didn't see that happen. Now, it's March 2012, and they still haven't released it. They've spent long enough procrastinating, when are we going to see the real deal? I wouldn't be surprised if it came out late 2015!

wait, no. in 2009, they said it would be released the following year. the following year, they said it was going to be released in 2011. that year, they decided to pull the same stunt yet again, and say it was to come out in 2012. I would not be surprised if this little game of theirs continued.

I think that offends the ST, but anyway the ST made an educational program. Why would they play a game? If they did, many Scratchers might quit.

Why? Isn't making one version enough work?
Which is why I question them remaking scratch COMPLETELY in flash. java was just fine.
actually java is slower than flash play this game in java and then flash.http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ftf841/2394686

Whenever I'd play games in java it would lag, and sometimes not load. When I switched to flash it was quick. Here's my opinion:
Small games- java is better: I think it's more smooth with smaller games.
Large games- flash is way better and lags less.

Have you ever seen a good 3D game in Flash?
Flash is much to slow for 3D, but there are many good 3D games in Java.
I think Flash is usually better than Java in small 2D games and ads

Java is great for applications but not so great for the internet.
