I read a book once that said something like "No one could be naive enough to think violent media causes people to commit violent actions. However, if someone already inclined to commit violent acts is exposed to these forms of media, it may show them ways to carry it out"
I agree completely.

I'm much more interested in insulting Roger Ebert for his views on video games.

Yup
Take me for example, violence is something I want to stay away from, yet I play violent video games

well, I think it desensitizes us to violence.
and everybody here is assuming we are talking about video games.
I mean movies and TV are media too.
I just saw The Dark Knight (awesome movie)
but it had a lot of violence.
That kind of desensitizes me to violence, without necessarily making me want to go kill people.

Just a little debate I wanted to start up.
YES IT'S VIDEO GAMES SO IT COUNTS AS READING AND PLAYING.
Well, actually, the Things I'm Reading and Playing forums is more for talking about activities and media that inspire us; just because the topic is related to video games, doesn't mean that it automatically fits the forum criteria - you have to make sure the inspiration part is included as well.
You're still quite free to make a project about it, though; maybe it can even be a remix chain where people can remix the project to add their own thoughts to it.
