IE9 Force-Closing Projects

When I view some projects, IE9 force-closes the tab, shows a little message saying "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab", then takes me to an error-message page titled "Website restore error" that says:

"We were unable to return you to mit.edu.

Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.

What you can do:

Go to your home page

Try to return to mit.edu

More information"

Upon clicking "More information", it says: "When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop."

When I go back to the homepage or forums, I have been logged out.  At first it seemed like a persistent problem, but a few projects starting working.  Now they're failing again.   sad

Original Examples:
http://www.scratch.mit.edu/projects/Necromaster/1615710
http://www.scratch.mit.edu/projects/Necromaster/1690911
http://www.scratch.mit.edu/projects/Necromaster/1823323

I'm using Windows 7.

EDIT:  NOW ALL PROJECTS ARE DOING IT!!!
EDIT2:  It doesn't log me out if my own project crashes.
EDIT3:  Now it doesn't log me out at all, but crashes all projects!
EDIT4: Java and Flash don't work!
EDIT5: Downloading via the .sb workawound does not work.
EDIT6: It worked on someone else's login on this computer, but it still doesn't work for me.   yikes
EDIT7: Compatibility mode allows me to view the webpages and Java player, but it thinks I don't have Flash installed.  Turning off compatibility mode causes the crashes again.
EDIT8:  It's working now.  I'm not reporting this for closure in case it starts crashing again.
EDIT9: The "Original Examples" aren't working.  Other projects are.
EDIT10:  This is bizarre.  The links above work, but the links from the My Stuff page don't.  hmm
EDIT11:  It appears that using a 32-bit browser fixes the problem.  As a result, I do not advise using 64-bit browsers with Scratch projects.

Re: IE9 Force-Closing Projects

Try using a different browser, and if it still happens on other browsers, it's probably your computer. For now, you'll just have to download everything in order to view it.

1.  There are no other browsers on this computer.
2.  I can't view the project's webpage, so are you suggesting I try the workaround download method?

Edit: Even the workaround doesn't work! (adding ".sb" to the URL)

Hmmmm. I'm not really sure what the problem is, if you can't even get to them  hmm
Are there firewalls up?  hmm

I don't think so...definitely no special firewall settings, and the antivirus is turned off.

is there any way you could download another browser?
you also may want to check that you haven't gotten a virus
ie without antivirus is a big no-no

It's not my computer.  I've told the owner they need to get an antivirus...but I'm super-careful about the websites I visit.  I don't think it's a virus, because it's not happening on any other websites...it's also not happening on my Windows XP w/ IE8.

Re: IE9 Force-Closing Projects

I have no idea...

By the way, to download a project, add "downloadsb" at the end of the URL.

Re: IE9 Force-Closing Projects

Sorry. I mean "/downloadsb".

For example, if you want to download http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Necromaster/1615710, go to http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/Necromaster/1615710/downloadsb.

(Sorry for double posting, but I can't edit.)

The .sb works in normal situations; I've used it before.  However, /downloadsb seems to allow me to download--thank you!   smile

Re: IE9 Force-Closing Projects

I used to get that glitch EVERY time I used the internet for anything.
It turned out that one of the system files was corrupted.
So I system-restored, fixed the .sys, and SWITCHED TO CHROME.

The problem was actually a corrupt flash drive which I'd used for weeks without realizing...

Programming is an art...
Goodbye, Scratch. I am leaving because of the exams coming up at our school, though I'll check the forums once or twice a week.

Reinstall your browser, some files may be corrupt.
I've had this problem before.
