All I know about Windows is that it lasted only 2 years for me before it stopped working, 3 years on my younger brother's computer
However, the Mac I am currently using has lasted since 2006. I'm pretty sure it's just the fact that the Windows was on an HP craptop instead of an old-yet-functional iMac.

Windows XP won't be supported anymore in 2 years.
Mainstream support already ended (in 2009) and extended support will end in April 2014. ^o^
Dagnabbit.
I don't have a functioning computer (well a barely working one) that runs xp and this makes me sad. Windows XP is the best and most stable version of Windows yet
We have an old XP laptop. It's a compaq and MAN it is solid. I wish modern PC laptops were this solid instead of being so focused on being thin

You are the first person I agree with. Everybody else I know are Apple fanboys.

Try a Lenovo. They may not have all of the visual appeal of a Mac, but they're really strong and have amazing keyboards. I got one on loan from my school (a 2006 version) and the keyboard is so good I now find it hard to program on anything else.

I've heard you say so many times, and although I think it's unlikely that I will buy a PC laptop in the near future, I'll definitely keep that in mind

Yeah, new PC laptops are just too liquid. Or gas. Or plasma??

if you're completely inexperienced with computers and it's likely you might break something, get a mac
if you have some experience but you're not really knowledgeable, you just know enough to not break anything, get a pc
if you want to actively manipulate and control your computer's functions in order to maximize efficiency, get linux

Don't forget the really basic people who just browse the internet who should get Chromebook

Found a box running 8 at Sams Club the other day. It's awful.
The only way I could navigate *at all* was because I already knew where the invisible buttons were. Yes, invisible buttons. It's like that web design thing called "Mystery Meat Navigation", but forced on to literally every application. And this computer had a touch screen. The one next to it that didn't was even worse.
Let's play a game: (highlight for answers)
What does tapping in the lower-left corner do? Takes you home: obvious really!!!1
What does tapping in the lower-right corner do? Opens a box with... um... everything in it.
How do you turn off the thing? Open Charms Bar, then press Settings, then press Power, then press Shut down. (Why is that in Settings?) Or press Sup+I, Power, Shut down. Or Alt-f4 twice (once of on Metro page), than "Shut down", then OK. Or sign out and press one of the account logos then press Shut down. Or sign out and press Ctrl-Alt-Del and press Shut down. This is so silly it had to go in Microsoft Help.
Intuitive right??!?!?!!111one11!1117
Now let's play again, this time using my computer as an example:
What does tapping in the lower-left corner do? nothing
What does tapping in the lower-right corner do? nothing
How do you turn off the thing? Menu-Exit-Shut down
Which makes much more sense. And my computer doesn't run 8.

Uh just because other people disagree with your opinion does not mean they're "fanboys".
Really you should stop being so biased and actually give good reasons for hating on Macs.
Because honestly there is nothing wrong with them, they are actually great computers, you just do not know how to use one properly.

Yeah. Win 8 is underrated.
People just think of Microsoft as that old company who makes pieces of trash for software. And I'll bet half of them don't know who made their XBOX 360 :D.
Actually they do know they made the Xbox and they don't think that at all.
Stop trying to act like you're superior to everyone else just because you think you know better when you do not.

Err... I've never met someone that used computers that didn't know Microsoft made the Xbox (360).
Also btw you're kind of accusing all of us moderate people who actually are accepting the Mac as a valid computer too of being Apple "fanboys", whereas you're kind of just being a Microsoft fanboy yourself.

But it's faster. Unless you have that little switch that turns off the PSU

The thing that really bugs me:
Where's the start menu?
Just hover your mouse around the screen for about 20 minutes, then wait a little bit, then really fast, click what you want!
Please help me, Win8 is going to kill me. My mom is forced to work with it because of her IT job.
