We don't need to even open up fire on this question Contra is best.

People still post here? Cool! Let's bring this topic back! I'm still glad people don't like CoD with a few exeptions.

I'd have to say CoD, sometimes I feel like just playing a shooter game, I don't care if all their games are almost the same, I don't own all of them nor do I want to, I can just own 1, play it and be happy.
And also, shooter games normally don't advance or change too much, yeah they get new features (which happens to CoD too), but they're still a shooting game, Starwars battlefront for example had huge features taken away and new maps put in, yet people loved that.

No.
You can keep an FPS core (shoot stuff with guns, look through the eyes of the character, while running through a map) and change every other aspect.
Team fortress 2, for instance. No quickscoping, no regenerative health, healing guns, automatically constructing buildings, health is shown to you properly, cartoonish graphics, hats, damage numbers and sounds, class based gameplay, and many more features..
That is completely different from any other shooter of all time period.
If you want to play a good shooter, go play TF2. Contra is a higher quality and originality game.

Yep, TF2 is another one of Valve's great games, and the same thing with Contra, a Konami classic!

Well CoD is more "choose the weapons to best fit your play-style", if I want to play a plain shooting game I will play CoD. I also prefer photo-realistic graphics to cartoon ones just because it helps me get involved with the game, also TF2 is something like 15GB and apparently there's lots of hats, I'd rather not play a game where everyone is running around with dodgy hats on, that's just not my thing. Also, from what I understand contra is different to CoD anyway, so yeah, it is "original" even though that's mostly because the NES couldn't handle a CoD like game so they were forced to think around these things making a new style for it. Games will always have rivals, most things have rivals, Microsoft made a rip off of SSBB using "Microsoft characters", the playstation move is a suped up Wii remote and the Microsoft Kinect is an upgraded Eyetoy, that's how the gaming industry works, if you can't join them, beat them.

TF2 has over 100 different weapons to choose from, hats are mostly vanity items and being class based only makes it more varied.
Nobody wants to play a plain shooting game, TF2 is free, and 15GB isn't as much as you think.
If you care about graphics you shouldn't be playing video games at all.
Saying CoD is good and TF2 isn't as good as it is like saying Sonic 06 is good and Generations isn't.
Play a game before judging it.
If the contra developers had today's hardware, they'd still make contra, not a CoD clone.
Because they WANTED to do something new. Run and gun was the old FPS.
The market didn't always revolve around 10-year-olds playing hyper-violent FPSes.

I didn't say that I hated the graphics so therefore it's a terrible game, I dislike certain styles, isn't that human? I prefer Twilight princess's style over Skyward Sword's, shoot me.
15GB is 15GB, it's exactly as much as I think it is, 15GB, I have limited space.
Yeah, ten year olds play CoD, so? Doesn't mean as soon as you play it you become 10 years old, it just means parents aren't parenting and kids are playing violent games, and hey, maybe I like violent games. The market doesn't revolve around that either, games that are aimed at 10 year olds are much more different, CoD is aimed at the older teens and 20-30s, yeah, loudmouthed 10 year olds will make themselves known over chat, but maybe the reason why you hear them so much is because they're the ones mostly taking?
Sometimes I want to play the plain game, I can play Vanilla Minecraft without modding everything I see. I can play with my aunt's boyfriend too, he's not 10, and we can have a private game without these fabled 10 year olds.
