About the picture of Scratch

Sometimes if you want to output the picture of the sprite,it can be saved as a gif format file,but  sometimes it is saved as bmp format file,why is that?I am looking forward to get your answer,thank you very much...

The format the image is saved as depends on the image itself. If the image has a lot of transparent areas, it might be saved as a GIF file, but if the image doesn't have any transparency it might be saved as a BMP file.

This. Also if it's a complex image with something like a gradient, it'll be a BMP I believe.
