My parents told me that I have to find a hobby that doesn't include computers or video games. I decided to go with pen and paper RPGs. What are some rpgs that you guys have come across? I'm looking for one that needs three people or less, including the GM, and that good short solid rules, and that also has multipal campaigns. Any ideas?

Because computers and tabletop RPGs are on completely different sides of the hobbysphere.
But yeah, they are fun even if they're considered all nerdy and stuff.

There are a lot of book RPGs that you can purchase. eBooks and Kindle books too.

Can you get it online?
you could, but the online game is totally different. It also takes 10 hours to download.

So it takes 10 hours to download, yet it has a simple version? Is there a way to just download the simple one?

no, the regular one can be simplified, but it's not official. you can't do that on the online game. the regular is pen and paper.

No, I think samtwheels was thinking you meant can it be played online (because there is an online D&D game) but if you're just wanting the pen and paper D&D then look up "Dungeons and Dragons rulebook" or something like that on google and you should find it, though I don't know which version the rules are up to yet XD
and he means that you can simplify it (by cutting out some rules)
and the books should take much less than 10 hours to download

Ok, I figured. Are there any videos on how to play? I'm more of a visual person.

If I remember, books contain data and ability stats and the like.
I mean, if you're willing to remember them.
They are quite thick books by the way.

That's why I wanted a simpler version.

Whatever you choose, act really addicted. That will get your parents concerned.

You will have stats either way.
Deal with it or don't play.

Probably. There was also an animated series if you're willing to try and find that.

I know, but there can still be a simplified version of it. Something that only requires five or so stats rather then 50 or so stats. (Ok, maybe not that many)

I was trying to make a fantasy kind of choose-your-own adventure "RPG" in a sketchbook, but gave up on it
I'm not sure if that's the same thing
What is a pen and paper RPG exactly?

The most famous would be the popular "Dungeons and Dragons".
The basis would be a game where players take the role of a character that they have set statistical abilities for and go on a quest told by their Dungeon Master (he doesn't play but controls the action). As they go they would encounter monsters and obstacles as well as gaining new skills and such.

Kind of the same thing. Pen and Paper RPGs require almost variables. Players keep track of their own stats on a player sheet. These affect weather or not the user has success in their battles, and other things. Get it? Also, pen and paper rpgs are usually multiplayer.

Dungeon master maps out a bored with everything drawn onto it where players put pieces and travel around to interact or whatnot.
