Sounds similar.
Anyway, I read them both today.

How could you read the entire Tolkien trilogy in one day?!

Also I'm surprised you're reading it in the 8th grade, it's pretty much a book you read in high school.

I had to read it in 7th grade, actually.

Me too.

I didn't really like the book.

It might have been something else though

Maybe you're thinking of Lord of the Rings  tongue

Lord of the Rings is longer and written in that weird way.
I would expect LotF over LotR

*gasp* SHAME FOR SAYING LOTR IS WEIRD!

[stuff here...]

I read fast, and I read while the computer I use loads the pages off the internet.
It doesn't really take very long, and the computer I use is very slow.
It's slightly random though.
I have trouble remembering all the placenames.  tongue

Re: Lord of the Flies

Laurelindorenan! Okay, I'll shut up. Anyway, like Wickimen said, LOTF is good albeit kind of scarring. I personally identify with poor Piggy. The descriptions in that book are marvelous, even the icky ones... I remember it as a vivid, alive kind of book.

Edit: But also a deathly kind of book

My friend thinks it's comedy. Especially the bit where a boy jumps off a cliff. Thank god we went to different secondary schools.

I never knew it was supposed to be comedy.
It seemed rather surreal to me.

OK, that's not even funny.  Seriously, stuff like that might really offend some people.

Re: Lord of the Flies

I have. It's a pretty good book, but since it's a classic and quite old, it lacks the suspense and excitement of today's authors.

I don't think it lacks suspense.  However, I think it probably was much more gripping during the age it was written, since many of the references, such as "Sucks to your assmar!", are lost on today's readers.

Oh wah boohoo. Fictional character died.

Am I the only one who doesn't develop feelings for them? xD

It's not that--you were making fun of death.  Not did you seem disrespectful to the people who like the book you seem to be making fun of, but some people might be offended if they have recently suffered a loss.

Just be careful when using sarcasm and death in the same sentence.

Yeah... I'm more of a math and science guy. I really only read when I have to for school.

It's a good book.
Interesting style of writing and rather deep for something able to be read in under an hour.

Yeah, I had to try to drag it out (a chapter every few days/week) so I wouldn't get too far ahead and forget the details for the dreaded chapter quizzes.  *dramatic music*   sad
